Yeah the Nylander goal doesn't go in a few years ago. Same with the Kampf GWG in game 3

Vas has definitely looked human through 5 games. I hope it stays that way lol
I thought he made some great stops tonight.

The difference was not that he's slipping, but we beat him. Look at the goals - deflection off his own man, beautiful pass for a one-timer, perfect shot off the post, and intentional rebound on a 2-on-1.

We're making him look human.

The team is making his life tough

Plenty of traffic, shooting from good areas and generally just keeping him uncomfortable by keeping the pressure on him

We are 0 for 7 in series winning games.

2018 game 7 vs Bruins
2019 games 6 and 7 vs Bruins
2020 game 5 vs Columbus
2021 games 5,6 and 7 vs Habs

It's about time we end that horrid streak.

GO LEAFS. Please win the next one.
And the Lightning are 1/5 when facing elimination in a series dating back to 2014. The only team they beat was Detroit.

The makings of a perfect storm. Will they do it?

Islanders took them to seven last year. Doesn't that count?

As a outsider, it was way more entertaining reading your game thread after the first period than this stuff :D.
Congrats. Would be nice to see Toronto go further this time.

There is just no way that they're gonna get away with another horrific start anymore - this was it.

If the Leafs want to win game 6, they have to play the best hockey in the franchise history... Tampa Bay will not be beaten easily. Color me terrified.

The best aspect about this win is that literally every "core" player impacted the come back - when after the first period the heart of this team was doubted by many.

Rielly had the great goal, Nylander created two goals, Tavares well positioned and amazing patience and passing, Marner literally buzzing and puck glued to him all game, and Matthews feisty and GWG.

I did the opposite. Just didn't watch until I thought the game might be nearing the end. Turns out it was the start of the 3rd period.

I saw the good part, but my heart wasn't ready for that.
I have been calm in the end of both tight games 3 and 5. There is something in this team that is different. They had composure and sense that they will finish it. No matter what, they were on a mission. Just bring that same attitude to game 6 from the start.

Just woke up.... Wow. What a hockey game. Told ya guys btw.

Many uber cool Leaf fan moments for me. But overall, seeing Matthews releasing hot boiled egg energy into his crushing board hits was insane to watch.

I mean, we have seen snippets of him throwing some weight around, but the guy literally out Lybushkinned Bushkin.

It was crazy, and of course it fired anyone who was a Leaf fan or a Leaf player to see possibly the best player in the league, turning into Bonecrusher Smith.

Campbell playing his best game of the year, in a year he played man. Great ones.

Marner shooting off Vasi's pad to set up Matthews with an open netter?

Has anyone seen that move before, I certainly never have.

Awesome game, never seen the ACC that electric for a hockey game. Maybe eclipsing the Raptors championship ACC crowds.

Man, the maraschino cherry at the top is stil missing though, Joe Bowen calling the games.

That is the crime of the century from MLSE btw imo. But lets stay positive.

Footnote: Where the heck is Shanahan, haven't seen him up there near Dubas for quite some time?

what a freaking game, after the beginning of the period and we quickly went down 2 I really thought our boys were going to lose focus and I thought we were done
then they all sudden battled back, such an awesome back and forth game
so Thursday is Game 6 then?

Man, the one game I don't watch because I am busy and they win and actually come out to play. So what exactly did I miss?
They didn't come to play in the 1st but they hunkered down after that and clawed their way back. Amazing team effort, amazingly exciting, the core 4 plus Reilly carried the load and even if that assclown Cooper says the Leafs "didn't earn it" and they basically "gave" it to us ... screw that, they earned it the hard way

Qftt
Our offense is formidable

Just listen to 7:15-7:21
Awesome:laugh:

Its criminal that we don't get Bowen and Ralph on TV. The only team in the leave that doesn't have local broadcast crews.

I'd pay some sum of money just to be in the booth and watch those two call a playoff game, without actually seeing the game. They are masters of their craft. I've always liked Bowen, but Ralph has grown on me considerably in recent years.
