Not to mention he was on 2PP and 2nd pairing last WJC so we could legit see one of the best defensive performances ever in this tournament. There's no real standout offensive defenseman on 3/5 big teams (Sweden, USA, Russia) that most likely will be a lock for the award voting. If I had to guess, it's going to be a fight between Niemela, Power, Sanderson, Edvinsson, and Mukhamudulin (with Jiricek and Nemec as darkhorses), but like last year with Niemela, there's always a chance someone else steals it.

Fetisov is to my knowledge the only Dman to ever win the award twice.
I don’t know if he won the award back to back but I would assume that is the case if he won it twice.

Still some extremely elite company to potentially be in. He will face some stiff competition this year to do it.

Gents how does our team stack up against US team? How have they matched up over da years in spring hockey? Key guys on Canada team (Wright) playing key guys on US team.
 
MVP incoming for Niemela, he's a stud.

The way he plays though, I think he's better at keeping up at higher competition than dominating lower competition.

Finland looks as expected, except Viro in on the 3rd pair for some reason?

USA I'm so confused by. Berard and Beniers are probably 2 of the 3 best F, but they are for reason using Mackie & Mazur ahead Coronato and Lucius? Like f***ing Knies plays with Lucius in Minny and theyre crushing it, how can you screw that up? Pastujov an extra F? Lmao tf?

On the bright side, no Leafs were involved. I'm not sure if that was dirty though, Berard jumped hard out of the way

I thought the 5 minute major was too much. Would have been a shoulder to shoulder check if Berard didn't try to step out of the way.

Knies was the player in front trying to bang it in - basically sitting on the goalie. Love that he crashes the net.

In Minny he's in that spot too. I'm impressed the coach is planning on using him on PP1 and the top-6 even though he's only really been on the radar since the summer.
