Slovakia has a real chance to win this whole thing. I think US was extremely talented and maybe the most talented, and they knocked them out.
If Canada loses today vs. Sweden, I'm cheering for the Slovaks to take it all. And I think we're gonna be in tight vs. the Swedes. Russia IMO has the most "skilled" roster and they're having a tough time in this tournament also. It's fairly wide open without NHL players there.

Part of international hockey lore is these shootouts. I don't think there's anything to laugh at.

This was one of the biggest moments in international hockey history.

Eh you're not going to convince me winning a best on best international game is best solved by a skills competition, sorry. Just like a nfl playoff game being decided by a coin flip is also a joke. Also the video you posted is just lackluster. Like I'd rather watch back and forth OT hockey, and a game being decided on a next goals wins factor not a skills competition. Anyhow sucks for our prospects.

Herzog-Malgin-Andrighetto have easily been the best line for Switzerland. They compliment each other so well and constantly hem Finland in their own end.

Pretty much all of Switzerland's dangerous chances have come from them.

How did Malgin look?
Just box score watching, but looks like he played C, almost 20 mins, -2, 4 shots.

Marty Marincin… Olympic medalist :sarcasm:

Well, not much to talk about in the first period for Can v Swe. Nobody stood out in a positive manner on either side. No great chances on either side. A lot of inaccurate passing on both sides, Canada throwing the puck aimlessly up the ice. It’s a mostly tight checking game, with not a lot of space and nobody showing enough offensive flair to break out of that.

Sweden with the best chance of the game so far. Just a bouncing puck, that bounced off of several players, but it stayed out. Sweden with one shot after eight minutes. No odd man rushes for either team, pretty much a chip in and chase game. Shots 12-12 halfway through the game.

Holmberg just had the best opportunity of the game, back door shot, but Tompkins with the great save. Sweden looking like the better team more often now.

Slovaks tie it up with the goalie pulled.

That was quite a game USA vs Slovakia, and huge upset. Perfect example of Will beats Skill in this one.

I thought Matty Beniers was the best player for the USA in this game generating a lot of good looks and chances.

Matty Knies had a few rush chances and looked solid, but after entering the tournament I was reconfirmed on my beliefs of Nick Abruzzese being a better Leaf prospect then many give him credit for. He plays a bigger game then his size and not afraid of the physical play.

Canada looking good for a bit here and offensive zone time. Ho Sang with good possession, but nothing accomplished. Then Winnick with a dumb penalty knocking the stick out of the Swedish D’s hands. But Sweden takes a quick penalty so 4 on 4.

Second period over. All tied up at zero. Just a defensive lock down game mostly.

Its funny listening to the commentary in this one how often they single out Ho-Sang by name as this could be the shift or moment when he makes something happen and then Mike Johnson responds with "maybe" , "perhaps" playing along ???

The anticipation is killing me in a 0-0 game after 2.

Sweden is clogging up centre ice quite a bit and collapsing down low in front of their goalie making things tough slogging for Canada.

This could be 1-0 defensive battle.

The Good; He's the only player on either team, who has shown any offensive flair with the puck in this game.

The Bad; He doesn't accomplish anything, other than skating around looking fancy.

Canada gets their 1st shot on net in the 3rd period near the 10 minute mark just a Wallmark scores for Sweden.

Canada really doesn't have any game breakers.

They are getting good mileage out of Winnick and Staal but really nothing there offensively

That goal was terrible. Not only a stupid pass, then the d man tips it perfectly top corner.

Feel bad for the goalie. He's been good. The forwards of this group are pretty bad. Ho sang looks good but so many guys look like a bunch of Engvalls when they cross the offensive blue line. Zero creativity.

That being said Columbus has a hell of a future. They got a lot of young good players. Kent Johnson, Cole Sillinger, Liam Foudy
