or they could have just taken good offensive players

Justin Danforth
Taylor Beck
Ryan Spooner
Peter Holland
Darren Dietz
Max Veronneau
Ty Rattie
Chris DiDomenico
Corey Conacher
Josh Jooris

like what was Shane Doan thinking. How do you leave many of those guys off the team. A lot of them have also played in the NHL. The team constructed was just garbo checkers

swedish coach took out 4 checking lines and yet we won 2-0. he left out many offensive players.

Justin Danforth -> Playing in the NHL, can't go.
Taylor Beck --> reasonable question 38 points, in 42 games in KHL
Ryan Spooner --> reasonable question 34 points in 45 games in KHL
Peter Holland 0 goals, 6 assists in 15 games this year in the SHL.
Darren Dietz --> Declared for Kazakhstan
Max Veronneau --> Reasonable question 43 points in 35 games in SHL
Ty Rattie --> 33 points in 37 games. SHL
Chris DiDomenico ---> 49 points in 40 games in Swiss league... not sure on him though for this tournament...
Corey Conacher --> 20 points in 36 games in Swiss league... nah
Josh Jooris --> 21 points in 38 games in Swiss league... nah.

Clearly, the team wasn't just garbo checkers...

I mean, most of the guys on the team, are as productive overseas, as anyone you've listed. Maybe, two players you've listed can adequately improve the team... Beck mostly... but it isn't as if this was some huge difference maker.

Ho-Sang wasn’t good enough to play for Canada?
He played, he just didn't do much.

On the other hand, Uncle Leo was an important part of Finland winning their first ever Olympic gold in hockey. He now has two gold, two silver, and two bronze in international competition.

Also nice to see Valtteri Filppula as Captain. I always liked him.

I think it is interesting that we did not see guys like Wright or Bedard TBH. Shane Wright will be in the NHL next year, and Bedard will be there the year after. Most of the Canadian team can't say that.

Malgin was the only Leaf Olympian Dubas didn’t mention in his presser yesterday by name. And he dropped a lot of names.
I wonder if that’s telling.
Maybe he doesn’t see a future with this team, might stay in Switzerland. By all accounts it sounds like he played well in the Olympics.

He signed a fairly long term deal overseas, I think that Malgin is unlikely to come back.

Thanks. I wonder why I missed this.
Through 24-25, no details about NHL outs either way. I imagine where there’s a will, there’s a way, but doesn’t seem likely so maybe I’ll close this chapter and put the book on the shelf.
Shame, I liked him.
