Might have been if they put their foot on Florida's next when up 5-1, but the collapse should have them motivated to get the W.

Leafs are 7-0-1 vs teams like Tampa, Florida, Carolina, Boston in their last 8 games, they are coming from sandy sunny FLA, hot hot hot Texas country women , soooooo many distractions... ... I can guaranteed you that I cannot predict the future ;) usually i can read teams, this years Leafs, when I think they are gonna choke they man up and kick ass, when I think they are goign to dominate they choke... I think they are goign to dominate tonight .. so that would mean they are going to choke ;)

Keefe has a maddening tendency to mess with the team's chemistry when things are going well.

Let's hope he learned a lesson last game.

Meh. His logic is, better to test out things now when confidence is high and we are playing well than in a do or die situation with pressure on. He will know what works and what doesn't, what combos he trusts, etc.

Let's say game 1 of the playoffs another player goes out like JT. It could be anyone on F or D. He needs to be prepared and the players need some experience playing with different guys.

That said, I think he knows his lines game 1 if everyone is healthy.

God, I kind of wonder what it takes for Keefe’s fat head to absorb that Muzzin-Holl is no damn good and that Liljegren is NOT the guy to sit.

Horseshit man……

Move Mikheyev back to the Kampf line and give them 2nd line minutes. Tavares' almost entirely ineffective line gets 13-14 minutes.

I'm not sure why this hasn't happened yet.

The unfortunate thing is it will "work" in his and many others eyes.

Rielly-Boosh: will be sheltered but perform fine in that usage
Muzzin-Brodie: Brodie will do enough to prop up Muzzin to make the pair average to below average
Gio-Holl: Will be good, because Holl is actually good away from the Muzzin train wreck

Unfortunately, while all 3 pairs will be ok, you downgraded the 1st and 3rd pair to try and prop up the 2nd pair.

Honestly I'm not sure what the solution is. Muzzin is the biggest issue and I don't see a scenario where he's a healthy scratch.

Lmao I can't believe Keefe is actually splitting up the Gio-Liljegren pair just to keep Holl in the lineup.

I assumed that after Gio-Holl sucked the first time Keefe tried them together he would never go back to it like with the odd time he tried Rielly-Holl.

On the plus side though at least the Rielly-Boosh pair is back together and Muzzin-Holl is split up.

I am going to trust the coach's decision over yours, I think they have more insight into who is playing better and in the system they want, not to mention this decision may be to get other looks on D or just simply to rotate D men.

I really don't think Liljegren is getting demoted permanently.

"Keefe is stubborn, why won't he move Nylander off Tavares' wing!"

Keefe will move players around when things aren't working, everytime people start complaining about changes not being made, they eventually get made (like Nylander/Tavares) or he sticks with what he thinks will work and it works out (Marner/Matthews). Have patience, if nothing else, this coach has shown he is not married to any ideas if they are not working.

Exactly. He actually spoke about this in the past; creating their own adversity when he feels the team gets complacent. I don't mind it. Though I do think he is not certain what his 6 starting D look like.

An uncomfortable reality for Keefe is that maybe our best defence corps this season, when healthy, doesn’t include either Muzzin or Holl.

Those pairs should lead to a lighter competition load for Rielly, which is good, but also probably leads to fewer minutes which isnt great. And of course it means we're stuck seeing Boosh on offensive zone faceoffs again, which is pretty ugly.

Hopefully Keefe moves Brodie up with Mo for some of those ozone faceoffs. That'll also up Mo's minutes.

If Keefe does get addicted to the Boosh longterm, I will say that I hope Lilly gets in the lineup over Holl.

I'm fine with Lilly sitting tonight IF it means we're going to regularly rotate. However if he sits Saturday as well, we riot.

Muzzin, Holl, Boosh and Lilly can all rotate. Rielly, Brodie and Gio should be the only ones safe from being scratched*

*in my world Lilly would also be safe but c'est la vie. And I fear Muzzin will be safe no matter how poorly he plays unfortunately

I can understand the "new" D pairings mainly for Brodie being the most steady out of the options on the right and Muzzin being the left shot that's most in need of that as a complement at the moment. I expect the healthy scratch to continue to be fairly rotational from one game to the next.
