We're averaging 6 goals a game in our last 6..let's keep the good times going I say. Tighten up a bit defensivly tho.

A game against a team that isn’t one of the top tier teams, expect them to play down to their opponent like they did against Philadelphia the other night. Will they get away with this time? Yes, but only if they don’t pair up Jake Muzzin and Justin Holl together, As they were on for five goals against in Florida.

if Holl plays, I’m not even going to bother watching.

I’m thinking they’ll trot Holl out there one more time. They won’t want to give the impression they blame the FLA debacle on him alone.

It seems the lines that have success have a good puck mover and a classic defender. Holl and Muzzin pairing doesn't have a good puck mover so they seem to get hemmed in often.
Just my opinion

Keefe should try these lines

Bunting-Matthews-Marner
Mikheyev-Tavares-Engvall
Kerfoot-Kampf-Nylander
Clifford-Blackwell-Simmonds

Rielly-Lyubushkin
Muzzin-Brodie
Gio-Liljegren

The only change I would make is Spezza in for Clifford and flip the Gio / Muzzin lines. I don't think Muzzin is 2nd pairing right now, although Brodie could help that.

Trap game....
Thought about going to this one, had tickets in the cart, and decided not to pull the trigger. Matthews is guaranteed to break the record, tonight, now that I'm not going.

Don't want to pay to see a loss and not sure what we're going to get tonight from our boys.

Everyone focused on the defensemen and I'm just praying we take Clifford out of the lineup.

I can't watch another stupid penalty, I really can't. He's hurting us so often out there, anyone has to be better. Hoping Abruzzese gets back in.
I'm with you man. Everyone shitting on Holl when we won 5 straight playing well defensively with him in the lineup prior to Muzz coming back.

Clifford is a useless plug who does nothing except take stupid penalties that always seem to cost us.

That was a bad game for Holl, no doubt. 3 of those goals were shorthanded where he's been excellent all season though. You're more likely the victim of goals when you play the tough minutes & lots of them.

He still managed to have a greater xGF than Rielly & Brodie with less o-zone starts, and Muzzin & Holl were the only +1 Leafs D that game.

Bad game for him but it's overblown as usual.

So your favourite team visits your home state once a year and you decide to not go because you assume a loss. Even though they're one of the best teams in the league?

I much prefer Simmonds for the role. I do think Clifford can hound the puck and is more quick but he has taken some extremely questionable penalties at brutal times during the game. You just can't do that being on the 4th line, especially down the stretch and in the playoffs

Part of the problem with Holl is that he looks like a terrible player, visually. He is often off-balance, missing pucks, making odd decisions... so he is an eye-roller in so much that he looks like he has no idea what he is doing (especially with the puck in his own zone). Bigger picture though, he has generally been getting the job done.

This is part of the problem with us being such great, passionate and committed fans, is that we rarely miss a game and his (or others) momentary lapses are so visually obvious we tend to pile on. I am like that with Brodie too... he's been so terrible (in specific moments) over the past couple months... but really, he's been okay big picture wise.

keefe is testing who comes out lily or holl. This is the only reason why boosh was/is out

The Stars are fighting for their lives period.

I expect this to be the toughest game in recent weeks tonight.
I think we need to take advantage of these next few games and get the second seed and home ice in the first round
6 of our 12 games are against Playoff teams/in the mix with Wash and Dal as the lowest current seed.
5 of TB last 12 are against Playoff teams/in the mix with Nash and Dal as the lowest current seed
9 of Bos last 12 are against Playoff teams/in the mix with Wash and STL as the lowest current seed.

We all have 1 game against each other and 1 with FLA

Boston has a grind as they play Pitt x2 STL x2 and go 3 straight against PO teams and 4 straight against playoff teams mixing in OTT/BUFF/MTL that have all played some good hockey of late and play ever other day minus one two day break and get BUF/TOR as their only b2b

4 of our last five are against PO teams and we have two b2b and twice we have two days of between games

TB plays ever other day minus one two day break and also have two b2b games left.

5 of 6 pts vs in the next 3 games would go along way

Keefe has a maddening tendency to mess with the team's chemistry when things are going well.

Let's hope he learned a lesson last game.

I think people are severely underestimating how much Keefe trusts Holl. There is a reason the guy plays as many minutes as he does. There is very clearly a disconnect between what the Leafs think of Holl and what the fanbase does.

Just want to send out some positive vibes for the team in hopes they rebound with a clean cut victory in Dallas.

GO TEAM GO!!
