I mean, Galchenyuk did.
Did he play because he was capable or because Tavares was knocked out and Foligno was never healthy?

With that said, I wouldn't be surprised for Dzingle to work himself into a regular spot.

The Leafs have seeming longstanding track record of taking anyone with the slightest physical presence and turning them into a shadow of their formal physical self.

The details as to why is unknown.

I assume it's the players, coaches and management that all emphasize other things.

Admittedly when your highest paid players are buttery soft, it doesnt promote physicality.
This is a great call, I see the same, year in year out. Only guy I’ve seen maintain his physicality after coming here within last decade has been Simmonds.

Lyubushkin's main partner this season is Chychrun. Last season it was OEL. He plays the same QoC profile as Holl, and produces pretty strong defensive impacts.

He has no puck skills. Toronto won't be asking him to produce points though. They just want a steadier defensive presence than Dermott/Liljegren for the bottom-pair. Dzingel is just depth fodder, yeah.

Paying a second in '25 for a right-shot 5D with strong defensive impacts seems okay. Couple that with ditching Ritchie's contract and it's a clear win for the Leafs.

So it makes sense to grab his former partner too

Nick Ritchie is always going to have teams falling over themselves to see if they're the ones who can get him to put together his package of skill and strength. I know some of you are gonna cry like hell next year when he gets a pick at the deadline but that's how it goes. Leafs didn't pay extra to dump him so that's a big W.

Lybushkin is a sneaky good pickup like Kampf. He definitely adds something to the d core than Holl/Dermott/Liljegren don't. Based on Dubas' comments I think they will take what they get from him this year and work to re-sign him this offseason and get him working with the staff to see if they can mold him into a top-4 guy.

So apparently hes mostly played with Chychrun and OEL.

I like his physical presense. Seems to be a Polak type player. Not bad.

Could potentially be paired with any of our LD.

Maybe we shift to something like:

Muzzin- Barrie -> shutdown line
Rielly - Bushkin -> classic puck mover paired with stay-at-home D
Sandin- Holl - > very good bottom pair

When did we re-acquire Barrie ???????

Dzingel @ $1,100,000 + Lyubushkin @ $1,350,000 = $2.45 mil OUT
vs
Ritchie @ $2,500,00 IN

For this year money IN vs money OUT balances.

The conditional 2nd is essentially for taking next years $2.5 mil on.

I know.

I was talking about ARI’s perspective.

Dzingel doesn't play the PK .. and I also wonder if this has to do with Sandin not practicing. Maybe they want to keep Liljegren up/in the line up.

IMO Dzingel could use the Galchenyuk treatment in terms of going down to play with the Marlies to regain some confidence.
Or Lili and Sandin alternate to get TD a bit more showcase time.

Wouldn’t be surprised to see a team take a chance on Dzingel for free. His cap hit is pretty low.
Plus, teams are loving waiver Leafs.

Has their been a team with a higher percentage of waived player claims?

The two goalies, the two C’s, Brooks.

Watch Dzingel get claimed now.

I hope it doesn't happen because he has the potential to rebound playing on our roster.
