So far he's probably been my favourite draft eligible player to watch that wasn't on my radar prior to the tournament starting.

Has there been any Russian based scouting reports or rankings on HF? There's quite a few Russians I like for this years draft and I always look forward to those Russians who've had a chance to view them personally and hear their opinions.

@Caser, are you making your list for this draft? You usually start it early in the season, and I didn't see it this year.

I actually don't do much of the early/midterm stuff in recent years due to the lack of time, but I plan to post my final list some time in July.

To not to go into the offtopic territory too much, I like Kirsanov too and see him as a quality second-round pick.

He looked really good at the WJC. I would love the Flames to get him at 45. I think he goes higher. Him and Chayka have to be the least hyped players in this draft. Really interested to see where they go.

Perfect value in the 2nd. He's probably not in that tier of Hughes/Clarke/Ceulemans, but it wouldn't be surprising if he's better than them considering he can play ahead of his age group. That shows me quality decision-making and strength even during the eye-test.

I like Kirsanov and Svozil as sneaky 2nd round defencemen, they always seem to make the right play with the puck, and super strong with it if they have to take a hit to make a play. Both remind me of Dobson and it's like they watch film on NHLers often.

And I have only seen them at international tournaments other than highlights of league play.

It is rare that an 18-year-old defenceman gets time playing for one of the best teams in the KHL but that is exactly what happened for Kirill Kirsanov this year. He played mostly on the third pairing, but still got minutes for SKA St. Petersburg. Kirsanov played 29 KHL games, mostly playing in a defensive role. He scored just three assists. He also played six playoff games, picking up one assist. Kirsanov played four games for the VHL affiliate, scoring a goal and an assist. He also played eight games in the MHL, scoring four assists. In the MHL playoffs, he picked up one goal in two games.

Kirsanov also has been involved for Russia on the international level. Last season, he played for the Russian World Junior team. He picked up a goal and an assist for two points in seven games. He also played three games for the Russian Men’s Team in the Karjala Cup. In 2019-20 Kirsanov put up two assists in five games in helping the Russian team to gold at the Hlinka/Gretzky Cup. He also played at the 2018 Under-17 WHC, scoring two assists in six games and again winning gold.
