Boring, low-event LHD. About 6’2 and 200. Skates well for his size. His puck-moving is reliable enough. Has seen some PP time, but I don’t think he’s a PP type. Doesn’t defend too bad. Maybe a late round pick, although I don’t think it’s a guarantee.

Central Scouting has him higher than I'd have him. Was on the WJAC19 team for the USA in December as a draft eligible, which says he's pretty high on the USAH radar. Committed to Quinnipiac for next season. Has 3+10=13 points in 41 games.

I haven't seen his name anywhere, but I like Groenewold as a ~4th round target. Once you start to run your list of flawed higher ceiling prospects and are looking for players with a chance to play games. I think he's better than all of the depth defenseman on the NTDP.

His game just screams pro. He's 6'2 with a strong skating base. Good pivots. Good defensive stick and can cover ice and break up plays. Not flashy at all, but I see his game being effective to higher levels of hockey. Aggressive gaps, though sometimes to a fault where he gaps up too high and gets beat wide. The downside is that he lacks next level puck skills and can fight the puck at times. His overall puck management can be an issue as he doesn't always read the game well. That will need to get to a passable level if he's going to play.

Not the highest ceiling player, but if you get a 3rd pairing defenseman who defends well and generally defers the puck to his partner, that's a win at that stage of the draft. Interested to see where/if he gets picked.

I like this player a lot and I think he's among the best pure defenders in the draft. His puck skills could use some work but his skating is great and I've seen some impressive offensive flashes out of him.
