Have seen him live 5-6 times this season and watching him again tonight. Big kid, smart with and without the puck, skates well. Plays both PP and PK. He's a talent and should be a guy talked about in the top 60 for sure for the 2014 draft.

Looks like he's having a good start to the season(5 points in 6 games). He seems pretty big for his age but is still an offensive talent. Has anyone watched him this year? What are his strengths/weaknesses and where do you see him ending up going in the 2014 draft?

Saw him last year and he looked like bouwmeester. effortless skater still weak though.

Never was a big fan of him and the prospect game solidified that theory, the guy is too awkward and hockey Pejorative Slur. Would not touch him with any 1st or 2nd rounder.

Really agree. I had completely disregarded his status early in the fall. He's not a good player.

That was a horrendous move to check Goldobin last second. Who does that in a top prospects game nonetheless?

Enough to state my opinion.

Definitely prefer Honka and maybe....Hicketts as well.

Well, at least you've seen him. I really hope you've seen more than just one game, and preferably live. I like Honka more too, but I'm quite high on Honka.

With Martin, I see a good skating, heady d-man, who has the ability to make great passes.

Bad d-man with bad hockey sense. Fast game flusters him and gets paralyzed. OK shot on PP, that's about it. Can't think the game well.

Disagree in many aspects of this post. Don't agree with you about his hockey sense, and his shot is IMO one of his weaknesses.

Have to agree. His pairing was constantly up against pressure that they couldn't handle. Just like Jack Glover, he was always making mistakes left and right and instilled no confidence in being able to get it done.

How is consistency?

A bit up and down from what I saw.

My beef with Martin is that he plays a very smarts dependant style of game and he still hasn't developed the required consistency in his composure and execution of plays. When he is on his game he looked like a top-20 pick. Lovely skater. Still a fan. Would see why some people who only watched the Top Prospects Game would call him dumb...

I honestly thought he looked like a bit of a knock-kneed skater, his speed is good for sure but when it gets to in-zone defending and playing the game fast it's either that or a combo of that with his hockey sense that leaves him on the wrong side of the puck or not being able to keep up mentally. He has shown flashes and picked it up near the end of the season, but consistency is a big issue here.
