While SoundAndFury is busy fighting a wall in another thread, I decided to take it upon myself to create a GDT. Two my favorite teams meet each other, glad I don't have to watch multiple screens trying to catch both of them at the same time.

Can't see anything than than hard to watch grinding victory for Latvia in this one.

Things to do before I die: catch a Latvia home game ✓

Hoping for some noise and a crazy party

If Kazakhstan scored shorty on that horrible Jaks play, the mood currently would be completely different. That said Kazakhstan looks bad on the short rest they had.

it's one of the most ridiculous video calls that I have ever seen. It's up there with a goal in a FIN-USA game many years ago when the puck clearly entered the goal through a hole in the net. It was called a goal then after video review.

Any chance you have a youtube link, would love to see it.

How to score a goal next time: One player picks up the puck with his glow. His teammate pushes the goalie out of the crease with both hands. The player carrying the puck in his hand places the puck over the goal line. Refs will call it a good goal.

That's how they call it now. Puck crossed the line between where the posts would have been and the net went off because of the intervention of the Kazakhstan player.

Stupid move to challenge it just after it had already been reviewed.

I thought Latvia only wins things by one goal :sarcasm: Having said that, good for them to take a break from nail biters for once. Actually a nice game for a Latvian fan on Saturday evening.

And for Kazakhs, it most likely doesn't mean anything anyway, not like they are sad.

Yeah, it's a goal by the rulebook, I just have never seen the rulebook interpreted that way. Most would interpret that Latvian player who was pushed caused an accidental goalie interference.

Challenge was silly, basically just telling refs to go watch it again.

Latvia pushing hard for the quarters! Good job. Curious who gets that quarter spot. There is even a scenario where the can finish 3rd... beat Swiss and the other team. Czechs lose to Swiss and Canada.

Most unlikely being beating the Swiss team but it's not impossible.. Czechs losing last 2 games is likely.

It's not a goalie interference because the contact happens through the intervention of the Kazakh player. Just a case of two misunderstood rules coming together. Fortunately it's not a high profile game and won't influence the result

Yeah, the referees interpreted it as a Kazakh defender pushing the Latvian into the net, and that what it really was. A defender pushing an opponent into their own goalie has never been a goalie interference, not sure what's the confusion about.
