GDT: LAT vs. FRA May 12, 2024

Mentally this is going to be an important game for Elvis and the team as a whole. There's been undue pressure on him and this is going to be a big opportunity to relieve all that unnecessary tension surrounding him if he does show up and does make some key saves leading to victory.

-1 from the period where Latvia was clearly better if not dominated the play before Batna's shenanigans. I honestly will never understand how players do the stupidest shit at the biggest stage.

Batna's penalty would have been 2 minutes in the days where they can't review stuff with the justification that "we didn't see for sure what happened". Now you are just a goner there.

2nd game in a row Batna takes a dumb penalty for no reason whatsoever. We're left with 3 Cs now.
Dzierkals still unable to score even if his life depended on it.

And, of course, another goal scored off our own player trying to block a shot.

I liked the way we played the first 10 minutes, we should've scored a couple of goals there.

Batna gave me PTSD from last spring when Dzierkals got 5+20 for butt-ending against Sweden. Both these were weak weaselly jabs at the opponent in a hope nobody notices the dirty play. At least get your money's worth when you go full dumb with this stuff... :sarcasm:

Who would have thought that a dive by Ryan Leonard in the WJC could cost us a game in the Worlds

And, of course, another goal scored off our own player trying to block a shot.

The shot seemed to touch the player's jersey but it didn't seem that the trajectory of the puck actually changed.

Indrasis is so slow to do anything these days.. It's a great skill to slow the game down but not then you do it all the freaking time regardless of anything around you.

Dzierkals again... Like seriously, when did he become so bad at putting anything in the actual net.

Locmelis received an IIHF suspension at the WJC. He's unable to play vs. France due to that suspension. Because of the Batna game misconduct, our lines have turned to shit now. Someone's playing double shifts.

Honestly, Dzierkals is bringing the top line down.
what do you expect from a guy that had 2+1 in 45 games this season? what is he even doing in the first line? is it only because he played in SHL?

Great chance for Krastenbergs... Junca is looking like Ben Bishop out there.

what do you excpect from a guy that had 2+1 in 45 games this season? what is he even doing in the first line? is it only because he played in SHL?
Lifetime achievement award.
