Last year for Tavares if we don't go deep in the playoffs?

The last two playoffs 5v5:

The Matthews/Marner line:
Corsi%: 55.53
Shot Differential: 59.47
Expected Goal Differential: 66.98
Goal Differential: 65.40

All other lines without them:
Corsi%: 50.70
Shot Differential: 52.80
Expected Goal Differential: 53.28
Goal Differential: 43.79

Should Matthews and Marner have produced more points (especially on the PP) considering all the chances they had? Sure.

I'm just not quite sure about calling them "heartless" with those kind of stats. Those numbers are up there with the best lines in the playoffs. I understand you gotta convert more often (and stop more as well) but it probably applies a lot more to the rest of the team than them no?

Yup they just choked. It happens. They definitely tried, they just couldn't get it done in the end. Hopefully this year will be a bit different.

What's pathetic is that you don't understand the simple truth that when evaluating players, what they did several years ago carries less weight than what they've done more recently. The kids can play, nobody's saying they can't but when you're one of the highest players in the world, you need to play up to your contract more often than once every few years.
The point of the post is that they played fine under Babcock. Keefe has been unwilling to match lines or separate stagnant combinations in 2 playoff series and the results have been obvious.

When you’re facing entire shutdown units who are getting the job done and the coach couldn’t be bothered to try different matchups what exactly are you expecting the players to accomplish?

Matthews is an interesting one, because his contract expires in 2024, do they ride it out and hope to resign him or do they deal him this year for a boat load of assets?

You think the Leafs might trade Matthews this year? They’re trending towards being a contender for the presidents trophy and with the way they’re playing they’re more than likely going to get past the first round and maybe more. And you seriously think they’ll trade him this year because of something that may or may not happen 2 years from now?
