I love Robertson, but I just think he's going to be needed to make a deal done for a center, especially if we dont want to give up futures

I use to love him when he scored 15 goals in 56 I thought he had 25 goal potential I mean he scored at a 22 or 23 goal pace last year so that's not a huge leap.

Not only is not going to do that It's very possible he does less than he did last year.

The man has had enough scoring chances to have as many goals as Matthew Knies right now.

He doesn't even have half

Who I'd like gone: Domi and Reaves

Who I think is gone: Dewar, Patches, Robertson

I'd really rather not deal Robertson, especially with him figuring his game out. It seems like Berube is having an impact on him

Easy, all they need is a team willing to be a 3rd party broker, according to Lebrun Seattle is to retain 50%.

So if you can get a 3rd party broker to retain 25% and somehow get a guy like Dewar to be included as part of a package, they money works
Yeah, I have no doubt they could make it work.
Seattle has to be motivated as well, they don't need to do anyone any favours.

they guy is playing what 12 mins on the 3rd line, and basically no PP time, so, what are you expecting. if he was given a shot higher up the way Holmberg was, maybe he'd be out scoring Knies, as he is outscoring Holmberg with far less opportunity(1.5 mins/game less and no time on top 2 lines)

I don't like Holmberg in the top 6 either, that's not the gotcha you think it is.

I can see Treliving going back to the STL well, where his coach is from and bring in players that won the Cup under Berube to strengthen the team.

Lets talk Brayden Schenn and/or Colton Parayko.

I don’t mind a conservative approach. Leafs didn’t do much the year they added Giordano anyway. The strength of the playoff run will be from goal, the star forwards and passable defense by committee. A Laughton or B. Schenn shouldn’t be the delta between a deep run and a first round flame out. And if these core guys can’t do it, well times up.

Can we make a Parayko deal work? The amount of salary we’d have to ship out would be domi +. I could see that as maybe an offseason deal but I don’t see how we make that work in the next three days

If tree does that he needs to go

Why do you say that?

Dewar has never scored a goal since joining the leafs. Reaves can gtfo. I get he’s physical but anytime his line plays we get hemmed in. Kampf + Lorentz + Patches/B Tanev would be perfect. A line that can skate and score.

I’m only saying Robertson out because I’m not sure where he fits in a line up with all the bodies and I think he’s the only guy with value who we can move and not feel shitty about it. I think Robertson might be the odd man out (though I’d want him to stay)

If we acquire a C, Domi is going to the wing. So is Robertson a fourth line guy?

He definitely has that potential Hes definitely improved his overall game and he’s been playing with some not ideal players him and bobby work domi doesn’t fit

Robertson is nowhere near a finish product and he’s cheaper and produces better bang for bucc than domi I don’t want him gone id rather domi gone so we can actually get an impact player

I think Robertson, dewar, and reaves will be out.

Scott Laughton will be in. Robertson traded, Dewar and Reaves waived.

Not sure who the depth dman will be maybe Soucy?

Is the delta between the junk that we have and Laughton that great though? My biggest concern is we pay full deadline retail for this guy and it turns out he’s just a mid sized Jarnkrok level utility forward with a high 20s to mid 30s offensive output, he’s got less personality than you first thought because he’s suddenly playing for a low personality dressing room and we’re out our better prospects, and when the big 4 short circuit offensively he’s not going to give you any surplus offense.

I’m not too sure tbh! There’s an argument you put Laughton with some offensive options he could be really effective. He’s not the top of my list and I certainly wouldn’t give a first for him. I think he’ll be cheaper than Schenn Thoth

I don’t think anyone wants Domi though

I know you don't like tree and that's fine you don't have to.

But you do need to give up on the idea that he's getting fired.

As of this moment the team is 1st in the Atlantic and 4th overall in league.

He's not getting fired that's not going to happen
I like tree so what do you actually know? I’m watching the trades and signings Hes making and if he doesn’t get out of that domi deal and trades Robertson I’m going to be confused on the direction Hes going in that hakinpaa timmins myers over lily is stupid in my opinion and killing his worth was even more stupid we definitely could use him right now with tanev out especially but even with him bacc we’re very slow on the baccend and getting laughton(another winger to play center)for minten would only highlight the errors he makes

It would be such a Leaf thing to do to flip Robertson just has he’s starting to figure things out 😂 watch us get a 3rd round pick and he ends up becoming another Verhaeghe

Honestly I think Tre is the next president of the team. I think Shanahan is done here after this season.

Who do I think or who do I hope? I try to not say anything negative about people but it's a big boys game, never personal, they are all great guys I imagine.

I will say this, I hope Brad minimizes the overpayments. 80% Of deadline acquisitions result in overpayments, thus far Brad has been prudent and he has to be convinced not by what he sees this year, but by history. The essence of the story is that this movie has been seen numerous times before. In fact, 9 times or so. Therefore, he should defer the big moves to next year with the increased cap and a better assessment of what they have to play with.

There are 313 available UFAs in this offseason. 81 Centers including Bennett among others. Brad showed he can find hidden gems, so, he should trust himself with a bigger budget.

One player I wouldn't trade would be Easton without a legitimate gold standard return. Even if just for the fact that in a year or two I can probably trade him for a better return.

Of all the players on that list, I would keep Benoit and probably patches as he is willing to play heavy even for his age (assuming he isn't too injured). The team has more real NHL calibre options this year than in the past.

All of the others are expendable and/or can be waived, though I wouldn't just waive Robertson. Trade him or sign him, he has some equity and seems to have found his Theo Fleury which I hoped he would. He is an enigma but one reality is that he can score and skate. That has value, especially when on an RFA.
