McLellan isn't likely to win you a Cup, but he could get them back to the playoffs (although maybe not this season). That's a step in the right direction.

He can get a team rolling all four lines if he has the personnel, decent at instituting a structure. He just cannot make adjustments to save his life, and that's been consistent throughout the three teams he's been the HC of.

McLellan's messaging is 100% better than Lalonde. He actually sounds like he has a clue of both what is going on and what are some viable steps to take, going forward. Plus, never having to hear another Lalonde sound bite and the words "underlying numbers" is worth the coaching change, alone.

I think you will have to wait until next season, to get an answer to that.

Mid-season coaching change and you won't see a huge overhaul to the systems already in place, just tweaks.
