Lakers targeting Danny Hurley (upd: rejected)

Rejected.

And darn, the Lakers weren't a coach away from winning it all, but UConn's stranglehold of the NCAA could've ended right there, so I was hoping he'd bolt. Oh well, guess the rest of the NCAA has to actually slay the dragon rather than the dragon slaying itself.

figured he would stay with a 3peat looming and that hasn't been done in like 50 years

oh well. a coach wasn't separating the lakers from a title

They wanted him to put in the system though. Winning a title within Bron-Bron would’ve just been extra.

also, 6 years/70 mil is not a "can;t refuse offer" like woj originally claimed. thought for sure they were offering at least 100 mil

if i had known it was only 70 i would've known for sure he'd reject it

He’d accept the job if Lebron isn’t there, why deal with shit if he knows of shit hits the fan it’s gonna be on his ass?

Rather not.
he didn't turn down the job because he'd have to coach lebron for a season or two

Can't blame Hurley. Eve with a huge salary and his reputation, he wouldn't be the top dog as long as LeBron's there. He'd probably get overruled anytime LeBron didn't like the way his system worked.

If they hire Reddick tho.... oof. It'll basically mean Bron is a player-coach.

Even if he did, a college program would perk the Brinks truck in his front yard.

Which tells you how off he’s telling them to f***.

A team with the gravitas of the Lakers should never be told no.

we don't know if he was even serious about leaving uconn. could've very well just been using the lakers as leverage to get a bigger contract in the near future

the reality is that the lakers HC job really isn't an attractive one at the moment. the roster is not built to contend for a title as is and the future is a big question mark. why take that job when they just recently scapegoated a title winning coach for the shit roster he was handed and then fired his replacement after two seasons where they made the playoffs? not to mention all the extra pressure that comes from the media and fans that you don't see with most other teams

not the first time the lakers were rejected by a high profile college coach

Now Lebron can have his way with Pelinka when him and JJ are holding hands on their way to his office to tell him who to target/trade away
