This guy destroyed the San Jose Barracuda every time he played us. It was absolutely brutal.

This guy may have some NHL skills...a lot of hockey players out there outside the NHL do. But he may not have the brains to play in the NHL. You can last a long time in the NHL if you have the mental ability to play good defense in the NHL, you can play in the NHL for a long time even if you don't have elite offensive skill.

Claimed twice. Nashville, then LA again. Had his chance in Nashville, didn't do anything there either. He's a really good AHL player, but once you take away his space, it's a lot harder for him to produce at the next level.

I imagine that one reason is that it could seem like a slap in the face for homegrown prospects toiling in the minors if the organization acquired another team's "not quite good enough for the NHL" player and gave him an NHL spot over them.
