Frozen Royalty continues its off-season coverage of the Los Angeles Kings' young prospects coming up through the ranks with not one, but two stories today on center prospect Michael Amadio.

Amadio was called up to the Kings' American Hockey League affiliate, the Ontario Reign, for the playoffs last season and did not look out of place. A big reason for that is the reason that he's a step ahead in his development coming from the North Bay Battalion of the Ontario Hockey League.

For the details on that, including Amadio's "draft story"—what the Kings saw when they were evaluating him before he was drafted, along with exclusive comments from Amadio and Kings Vice President of Hockey Operations and Director of Player Personnel Mike Futa, check out Frozen Royalty's story on TodaySlapshot.com...

These prospect profiles are the hockey highlight of my summer.

“My first year [in junior], I learned that there’s more to the game than just offense,†said the 20-year-old, 6-1, 190-pound native of Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario. “[Battalion head coach Stan Butler] really made sure that I was responsible in my own end before I was able to do anything in the offensive end. He really preached that.â€

Pretty impressive that they were able to drill that into a young prospect's head. There are some NHL stars who still haven't learned that. We're so used to seeing offensive wizards grudgingly learn to play defense, not defensively-responsible prospects then have a breakout offensive year.

I like the character stuff the management is bringing up about him. That's the Kings-type player we want. Looking forward to seeing more of Amadio this upcoming Reign season.

I feel bad for Zach Bratina, though. Tough break.

I should have a few more before training camp begins. Maybe a few after it starts, too. Talking more with Futa tomorrow, and then a few prospects after that.

We'll be absolutely looking forward to it, Gann. Love the Futa and Yannetti comments, in particular.

I'll be adding comments to profiles posted in the last few weeks that I've enjoyed. Yeah, late, but that's my life.
