This is from a random February game vs Nashville in February 2024 so I don't think this is a fair thread. What I do think is fair is a discussion about the coaching in LA. Jim Hiller has coached this round like his life's on the line if Edmonton loses. Not even bringing up that terrible all time bad challenge, LA had great defense and ran 4 lines all year, to run 9 forwards and 4 dmen into the ground Round 1 is just unfathomable. Like even if they get by Edmonton, does he know there are 3 more rounds? The Kings are beyond gassed, I have no idea what he's doing.
Huh? He was doing it last night.

Can Oilers fans explain why there are multiple fight videos coming out from the outdoor watch party after every game? Why are some of your fans fighting each other so much?

Never been to northern Alberta I take it? Fighting is kind of part of the culture. Just different type of toughness in Alberta.

After last years game 6 against the Canucks there were multiple Canucks fans laid out on the street receiving attention.

Anybody have any media that discusses it? I can't find anything. Even in the lines thread and on Daily Faceoff, he's still listed as RW.

I think playing the guy who's -7 and been on the ice for over half of Edmonton's goals this series on defence might not be that effective. Presumably he's doing it to lower the minutes of his top 4 D but it feels zero sum at best.

Stole this from another site:

Next game oilers are going to get a few power plays and that will be the difference which will see the kings end their season.
Not going to happen. The league wants Edmonton to fail. It's pretty obvious throughout this series and year over year. Expect more of the same deliberate league sabotage in G6

1) Got it, so your justification for the bad call was that bad reffing position leads to situations where blowing down the play on a loose puck is the right call, and therefore the hand on the covering the puck (swiping it out) in the crease is ok, because the play should have (but was not) whistled down first. Again, that's perverse logic. As for the rest, "cradling the puck" and what not, just lol... we all saw the video, your take is out there. Byfield dives on the puck like a cat on a mouse with both hands.

2) We don't know if it would have been an illegal hit or not, Kempe dodged it effectively (except for his knee). There is nothing Kane can do there given the speed. He didn't alter his trajectory at all. You could maybe call a trip if you like... it certainly wasn't a knee.

I don't think any Oilers fans feel victimized today. People are rightly calling you out from your take after last game, where YOU complained about the OT penalty and made easily refutable arguments (which today are being refuted) to suggest that the team dictating play will and should naturally draw more penalties. That has not been the case in this series certainly.

well said.

For me "they just missed it" and "They saw it and chose not to call it" are VERY different things. They probably should have called it. They very much could have called it. Generally speaking I think LA has gotten the better side of things as evidenced by the fact that Edmonton has hard carried the 5v5 play and LA has gotten more powerplays by almost a 2:1 ratio...but whatever.

Feels like you're almost bragging about it which is weird, but okay.

Still odd to see so many videos of your fans fighting each other after wins but I guess it's all part of the culture.

I’ve lived in Edmonton my entire life and I’d never say fighting is part of the culture lol. Things get pretty…interesting when you leave the city and go into rural areas though.

Those guys must be from Red Deer ;)

Oh to be clear it’s completely odd. I grew up in northern Alberta.

It wasn’t until I left there that things I thought were normal (like regularly fighting or seeing fights on weekends) are in fact not normal at all and kind of messed up.

I’m not saying it’s a good thing but you asked and I referenced that it’s somewhat culturally normalized up there in ways that it isn’t in other parts of Canada.

Fighting at sporting events is absolutely stupid if it needs to be said and that if that didn’t come across clear. It’s ridiculous but I was offering an explanation that you asked about.

Fair! Must have misinterpreted.

Not that it makes it any better, but I will say that a lot of the videos it seems to be younger fans fighting. Just seems weird to be throwing punches at eachother after a win haha.
