I expect a big name add to the line up next year, just a question of if it's in net, on the blueline or in the top six. If it's to the forward ranks, I expect Moore to slid to the third line and one of Kempe or Kaliyev to be alongside Danault. Obviously Forsberg would be a great fit but I'd be interested in Trocheck as well.

A big name add couldn’t really be more poorly timed, when coupled with the lack of progress from the youth this season.

Gotta draft & develop some talent into the top end of the roster first, otherwise it’s the cart in front of the horse.

Agreed to a point.....because to me, it seems like the how we got this result crowd, wants Byfield, Turcotte, youth A,B,C to be thrown in there to sink and swim......that just brings up bad memories of every single LA team from their birth to Lombardi years....why in the world would we ever come back to that?

I'll respond to that with my auto-response:

Saying we don't want kopitar playing 24 minutes doesn't mean we want Turcotte/Byfield/C du jour to suddenly take all those minutes either, we simply want a fair even distribution that gets the kids in a rhythm and allows them to showcase their talents (on the PP, for instance).

It's not a binary, that was the whole point of my post.

LOL fair even distribution......only in Peewee hockey bud.....

There was a point earlier this year where Kopitar was getting his face kicked in at 5v5 but still getting over 20 minutes a game while the kids were regularly putting up 70-80% CF% but only getting 10 minutes. It would have been nice for them to 1. give kopitar a breather while 2. rewarding the kids with additional time and PP minutes.

That's an example that's not your deliberate misinterpretation.

You might want to calm it down when we're talking in good faith, you're damn near out of people to talk to.

Well yeah, but is we keep doing that, we have to deal with a 3 Kopitars situation in a couple of years
He's a UFA in a couple of years, so there's no long-term commitment into his 30's.

The kids are doing just fine for the most part.

Outside of Kaliyev, none of the kids that are in the long term plans have grown towards being ready for the critical roles at the sharp end of the roster.

If I’m known for anything on this board, it’s creating a thread in 2012 stating the Kings would NOT make the playoffs—not sure how much any other negative statement could bite you in the ass worse than that…so for all this finger pointing that I’m Mr. Positive and have nothing bad to say about this team is a bit ironic.

I’ve said it a 100 times this season and I guess I’ll say it again…my expectation coming into this year for Blake and TM to keep their jobs was that the team had to at least be playing some meaningful games come March/April. Well, here we are, 6 games to go and right there in the middle of a playoff race. I’m confused that it seems like so many of you had higher expectations…because that’s what you all sound like. I’ve enjoyed this season, I really have and I will be watching every last game biting my f***ing nails until they get eliminated. (Just like all of you will be doing despite your bitching)

Yeah, the team needs some work, special teams coaches need to go…the kids obviously need some more growth (but some are looking fantastic). So, that’s all I got….and all I could ask any of you is WHAT THE f*** DID YOU EXPECT THIS SEASON? lol, exactly, we aren’t the f***ing Avs.

Some people just want to eat sausage without knowing how its made. Blissfully ignorant, but ignorant none the less.

Jets fan coming in peace...

Would you be interested in Scheifele? He could be a great add to your forward core IF you think adding a PPG guy takes the team to the next level. You guys are LOADED with prospects...I can see a deal without asking for the premier guys (Byfield and Clarke).
Yes I would! Scheifele is a gooooood player. If he were available the Kings could make a good dance partner.

Again, you are talking about fair and equitable, that goes out the window for most people, Bantam AAA and above....you are talking about an NHL roster.....

Absolutely wrong, Kupari has had a solid season, he needed to get sent down....and since he's come back, he's been fantastic....Byfield is making strides....

You are confusing stats with growth.

Based on what?

Turcotte, I think I'd agree with you on, and Vilardi is his own case due to the health issues, but the rest are progressing.

Scheifele can be a great RW. Less responsibility too. Want Dillon?

As for Connor, you would hate the cost.
Has Scheifele played RW much. I would love his skill on this team. What is Winnipeg looking for?

Disagree. Byfield all around game has grown, his offensive game hasn’t come together yet but there has definitely been growth. Kupari has also shown there’s much more there and has also grown his game.

I don’t have a huge issue with him sitting one game, but no more than that. Him experiencing this battle to get into the play-off with be crucial to his development as a player and for his character.

Anze cannot lead this team anymore....as a leader, or 1C.
One of the main reasons the Kings are in a playoff position, is the line of
Danault, Moore, Arvidsson. If the Kings had 2 lines like that, would have 100 points now
and challenging for 1st in Pacific.

I don't think it matters, who you put with Kopi next year. They could sign Forsberg, Burakovsky,
Gaudreau and it would not make Kopi any better, if you put them with him.
He's too slow and ineffective at being top 6 going forward. I cannot imagine what
he'll look like the last yr of his contract. ugly.

The organization should make Phil captain and make his line #1 (it already is)
Kopi's minutes should be 16-18 at most, going forward. The team really needs one
of Byfield, Turcotte, Vilardi, Kupari to take 2C and make Kopitar 3C, or have equal minutes
with the third line, if he is 2C. And he should be PP2. Iafallo should be removed forever off the PP.
He's better suited to third line and PK.

Agreed. I'll even go further -- i expect to see TWO major trades/additions this offseason, Both being a relatively younger side that fit for many years (23-28 age range) going forward. Likely a LHD and a winger.

If we're still relying on Kopi next season we're in trouble. We really need a big name addition through either trade or FA and at least one of our prospects to take a big step forward.

His game hasn’t come together, because he has not been given the opportunity to do so. Same could be argued about most of the youth on this roster.

Coaching staff has let us all down in regards to the deployment of the youth, but they still haven’t forced anyones hand or made the jump to the sharp end of the roster, is what I’m arguing.

Okay. So master plan this off-season is to land Scheifele and Chychrun, fire Todd and retire Brown.

Just have to get Arizona to take Peterson and Walker and the Peg to take Iafallo as part of the package back.

Everyone Kings fan gets one of their wishes.

Just not sure what we do with Byfield and who plays goal but it’s a start.

Yes serious but not serious
