certainly good news. But who is likely going on the bench? Muzzin or RR? And will the Canon lose his leadership role on the team? Or will he remain the alternate?

Ellerby to bench. Greene will get his 'A' back from Richards

Neither. I'm gonna go with SWB and say that Ellerby is gonna sit; he hasn't been good defensively OR offensively. There's no way we sit RR, and Muzzin has made some mistakes lately but he also brings offense to the table. It wasn't long ago that we were all raving about how well he was playing, let's not have such short memories after a couple bad games. Inconsistency is a hallmark of rookies, but Muzzin's talent outweighs that I think.

Anyway, very glad to hear this news. Greene can't be back fast enough!

Any educated guesses on when he plays?

Could he plays as soon as Saturday? Tuesday?

If I was DL I'd bring back amart and greener and sit out muzzin and lolerby.

i hope now that Greene's absence has shown/proven to the doubters exactly what he brings and what has been missing.

moving forward i hope to not have silly 'trade Greene' threads appearing. the only time this will be relevant is WHEN DL has his replacement ready. before anyone can step in and pick up this role, it is a discussion that simply should not be taking place

it's between amart and muzzin, muzzin is better offensively but can be a trainwreck on d. amart has been pretty bad but playing with greene again might get his game back.

Muzzin was a mess last night, and hasn't been great for a few games now. Still, Greene would be an ideal partner for him once he comes back. We saw what Muzzin can do when he is with a highly competent defender, he just needs that stability backing him up.

Doughty, Voynov, and Muzz/AM all being able to take more chances offensively with a solid partner will really increase our back end scoring. That is what I think we miss most with Greene out, even more than his solid play and penalty killing. Carter allowed everyone to slot into their correct roles when he was acquired, I think we will see a similar effect defensively when Greene comes back.

Pretty much. A proven duo with amart and Greene.

Has Muzzin played with Greene? not a lot of time to build chemistry there.

I'd probably go with Martinez-Greene for the playoffs--they're proven and an excellent third pairing...but Muzzin moving forward seems to be growing every game

I suspect we'd continue to see Doughty-Muzzin in the o-zone starts--it's so nice for Doughty when he doesn't have an offensive black hole as a partner

The idea of Muzzin in his own zone in the playoffs doesn't sound good. Ellerby has been a little too skittish too.

Hopefully Greene gets back soon, and then I'd give Martinez/Greene a chance to prove it doesn't work this year.

Greene aside, I'd like to see Amart in for Ellerby tonight - hopefully Alec's little vacation gets him going. Then he's playing well right around the time Greene shows up.

That's the plan; I'm sticking to it.

Uhh... Did you miss the last game?

What the hell did he do the last game that everyone else didn't do? He and Williams failed to clear the zone and it went for a goal. At least he played the man correctly after the mistake. It wasn't a turnover. He was the only defenseman that played hard last game.

Don't be one of those crybabies who hangs themselves and the team after a bad game.

Yes! That guy was amazing. I will always remember him knocking I think Mason Raymond right on his ass, and even though he got a penalty, it was still awesome
