Kings Article: LA Kings Blue Liner Jake Muzzin Is Starting To Look And Sound Like An NHL Veteran

progressed faster than i expected.

I still expect him to make the occasional bonehead plays throughout the year.

but mark my words, he's going to be a top 20 D in this league sooner rather than later... especially after witnessing his monster performance in the latter half of last year

Given that it'll be just his third full season in the league (1st was abbrevated on top of that), you can definitely expect mistakes. Still relatively inexperienced. That said, what tremendous progress late last season and in the playoffs. Absolutely tremendous.

You're one of the few that saw what was going on with Muzzin right off the bat.

Few people realize how hard it is to play Defense in the NHL. I would argue people like Doughty, are more skilled than some premier forwards.

Doughty is a hockey savant when it comes to hockey IQ. Muzzin always had the physical tools. He just needed to develop, and believe in himself.

It's almost as if Muzzin has been watching Doughty carefully and quietly implementing everything he sees. He has better Corsi/Fenwick numbers than Doughty even. Jake Muzzin is probably the most underrated defenseman in the whole NHL right now.
