An in depth look by the Mayor at the Kings for next season, drafts, trades, contracts, etc.

-doesn't see Voynov on the team
-Doughty to sign a LTC in July for 12M per
-Thinks Kovy is a last option, if they can't land a winger that's more to their liking , young, fast. Discounts Kessel for that reason and possiblyi Patches.
-Kempe is the 3C
-Folin possibly back if they have to move a defenseman for a top winger.

lots of other stuff...

"– Know this, Blake is doing everything possible to get a top-line winger. This is not a “We’d like to get one” situation, it’s more like a “We’re prepared to do just about anything to get one, it has to happen” scenario. Something is coming in the weeks ahead. "

That's a pretty aggressive assertion.

The Kings have no choice to get rid of roster players for a top liner. No other way.

If they want to try and compete anytime soon they have to.

I'm struggling to think of a team in the league with a worse situation on the wing than the Kings, there certainly wasn't a playoff team with worse wingers. Tough challenge for Blake, and not his fault, he inherited a roster that was just not built to compete in today's NHL. Maybe Vilardi impresses and slots in as a quality 2C and they can move Carter over to the wing, but that is a big risk, as Sol said they may literally have no choice but to give up a really good defenseman to get that winger.

I don't see any other way. Muzzin/Martinez or maybe forbort, brodzinski, voynov's rights, + a 2nd/3rd for a winger. A defenseman is probably going just to make the cap work and that is probably what the other team wants anyway.

Still want to see if tavares hits UFA. he is a player you sign and then worry about the cap later.

Tough to read the part about no prospects knocking on the door but looking at the Kings drafting in 13, 14, 15, 16 it's not hard to see why.

Curious about what katie strange's article (The Athletic) had in it.

I wonder if public perception will make it difficult to move him.
It was interesting. They got the police report But they also never mentioned that I remember the fact that the police never called in an interpreter to speak with her.
Which was the biggest mistake they made in my opinion.

thanks. I wonder if they even tried to get an interpreter. I used to work part time for a hospital and we had a list of personnel in the hospital and what languages they spoke, just for emergencies.
Odd that they didn't do that...

I don't remember where I read about that Want to say the times But I couldn't believe it when I read it But seem to remember that they didn't even try.
But the Atlantic article seamed very against him being able to come back

I think it will be very difficult for him to come back. The NHL might not allow it and if he is allowed to return (after a suspension if they do that) I think it will be had for the Kings to move his rights, or get anything of value.
Not many teams will take on the pr nightmare the might ensue.
By most accounts of reporters in the area (and some nationally) the Kings won't be bringing him back.

There will be a suspension question is how long Where I initially figured a year some feel closer to a quarter to half.
What's very interesting is reading from the person on this board that's is most knowledgeable about the CBA isn't sure if he can be traded without a contract
That in and of itself is an issue There aren't sign and trades in the NHL. Meaning the Kings will take a PR hit no matter what. Just signing him will set things off
Where things could get even more interesting is will the league even go through the hearing unless he has a contract?

Strange's article set the pendulum in motion, no doubt about it, or at least stoked the fire to a much larger flame. And it came off as fake outrage, imo. Much like the mensas on the main board. Like no team is going to touch him.

I've been saying it from the very beginning. Voynov will get a ~30 game suspension. It matches up with all the other leagues, as % games lost.

And then he should be a Kings dman, suited and laced.

The Kings fans that have issue will get over it quickly when we're rolling out Doughty and Slava on the right side for twenty plus mins a game.

I would have zero problems with Voynov playing for the Kings again.

I believe in second chances(obviously with the exception of murder, etc.)Dude made a mistake, no one is perfect. He paid for it...his wife is still with him and supporting him.

Anyone who has a problem with it has obviously never made a mistake in their life...
