On HNIC tonight, Nick Kyrpeos said there is a lot of interest around the NHL in Dougie Hamilton. He said Calgary isn't shopping him but there are teams looking for defensive help. Said he felt if Calgary is to trade him, they would want him to be playing better first to increase his value.

If he's not being shopped why are teams interested in him and why is his name always out there when it comes to trade rumours?

Everyone in the league is also interested in McDavid and Edmonton isn't shopping him, maybe we should make a thread (and start spreading rumors) about him too?

I hate it when teams do this, MB did it with PK too. They ask the media to spread rumors for them so GM's start calling them.

There are plenty of threads about those players. You can search for them.

Pacs + first for Hamilton and Bennet

Sneaky trying to hide Bennett in there. Absolutely not. Unless it's a substantial overpayment the Flames hold on to Hamilton. He's been our best D man this year. If the Flames are looking to shake things up I'd much rather deal Gio.

Thanks for the full paraphrase Caley.
And yes, he did say Arizona and Pittsburgh as teams interested.

Why would we trade Hamilton, 23 years old, one year after getting him when he's one of our best and will only grow? These always quite clearly say 'not being shopped', but like in the beginning of the season, everyone will mistake other team's interests for 'oh Calgary wants to trade him!!'

Probably because the coach doesn't think he is very good. Right or wrong he is 5th in aTOI on the team, 7th in ES aTOI. He is 176th in the NHL in ES aTOI. He's pretty much being used as a offensive specialist.

Meh, Kulak is a beast. If we could get a defensive defenseman that can kill penalties in return I'm all for it.

yeah let's decimate our rebuild

The rebuild has been going for ages, its time to accelerate it. Pacs, as opposed to HF's opinion, has substantial value. If Hamilton is being shopped or offered than Pacs would be the best offer. Bennet as good as he will become, would be the add. Maybe not a first to counter-value the addition but something around that. Maybe Juulsen, who will be NHL ready next year, or McCarron would be enough value wise.
But I doubt both teams make something this big, but then again, this is HF.

Bennett is not an add. that's one of the stupidest things I've heard on this site. We don't want Patches your offer is brutal.
