No, our stars simply didn't deliver. Simple as that. Stop excusing them. They had Carey and MTL down 3-1 and couldn't deliver the finishing blow. It's on them.

Anyway, I hope Dubas doesn't do anything major. This our team, let's see what they got. Maybe one day it will "click" for them. Nothing out there is going to put us over the top anyway until these guys start to carry this team like they are paid to do.

We better not lose to Tampa in round 1. I don't think I can handle a year of the "we lost to Vasi" excuses.

Lindholm to bruins, giroux to panthers

Not saying it is you, but...

"Dubas better not spent futures on rentals"

Florida and Boston spend futures on rentals.

"Why didn't we try to get these players?"

Boston has no prospect pool and two aging stars, their future doesn't look great to me.

The next three years for Florida in the top 3 rounds they currently have a 2nd and 2 3rds...

I think Dubas has done a good (not great) job drafting and finding bargain bin talent but if we get eliminated because our goalies shit the bed in the playoffs again he deserves to be fired.

It’s a glaring issue and if trusting a goalie with two starts, an inconsistent Campbell and whatever the hell Mrazek is backfires, he needs to be shown the door.

Which goalie should he go after? And if he trades for them and they "shit the bed", does he get a pass?

Watching the Dubas Defense League scramble to defend him is quite amusing.

"Yes. Columbus and Montreal would have missed the playoffs in a non Covid season. But losing to Columbus was acceptable because they were a 9 seed and we were an 8th. So that's pretty close... And losing to Montreal was acceptable because they made it to the cup finals last year"

These are their explanations and excuses they've made over the past couple of years. You seriously cannot make this shit up. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣😅😅

LOL "a few hundred thousand". 9 million was a fair price for Marner, he got almost 11 and not for max term either.

so basically your biggest argument against the gm is spending an extra 1.8 mil on a player ???
for the thousandth time ... 1.8 mil is meaningless overall. ............. and i hate to break it to you hes worth the 10+ mil whether u like it or not.

Is Fleury even good? I've read multiple people saying he is inconsistent at best with playoff performances.

He literally put up a heroic performance against the Bruins a week or two ago. On top of that he actually knows what it’s like to win a playoff round as a starter and carry a team. None of which our current goalies have done.

I don't care what he did a week ago, we had the best goalie in the league for a few months, I care about how he'd perform this year in the playoffs.

He is super inconsistent in the playoffs, but if his cost is not too great, or if Mrazek is going back the other way, it makes sense as a gamble.

Yeah and now he’s been ass for months and was never even a starter anywhere prior to here.

You don’t care about a week ago, you don’t care about pedigree. Got it.

That's not what I said at all, in fact it's not even close. Do try to read the posts before responding FFS. While we're on the subject though, 1.8 is absolutely not meaningless and LOL at thinking it is.

It was just said on the broadcast that Dubas is NOT reading 1st rounders or top prospects for rentals. Excallent!!

Boston improved a lot with Lindholm (assuming he signs an extension which is the rumour). Their window won't be open for long so going for it makes sense, expect them to be very tough for a few years before fading, he'll they're almost even with us in the standings as it is now. And Florida will also be tough for a number of years, longer than Boston so maybe our best hope is to stay the course, develop our prospects and we might be in a very nice position say 3 years from now or so. Of course we better win a round or two at some point before then, there's no guarantee Matthews doesn't run out of patience before that happens.

Regardless. I don't think 2 million in capspace is necessarily the difference between the team succeeding or failing.

Would it be better to have it? Sure. Has it made it impossible to succeed? Nope.

All true, I just wanted to point out that it is a question of 2 million, not a few hundred thousand and that's a pretty substantial difference.

Yea no thanks. Remember that Fleury was traded for nothing in the summer. That contract is still an obstacle. If he doesn't want to come here and we can't squeeze Chicago on that, then move on to other options.
Still, for 2 first rounders and Knies, you get rid of Mrazek, you get a bonna fide starter that won a Vezina 2 years ago AND a very valuable 23 y old forward. Hagel has been traded for 2 first rounders and 2 young bottom 6 players to Tampa.

Basically it's Knies + 1st for Hagel, and 1st to get MAF for cheap and get rid of Mrazek at the same time. Solves a lot of issues.

Fleury won the vezina last year, not 2 years ago….

We lost to a team with the same record as us after sitting for four months, and then we along with Winnipeg and Vegas got beat by Carey price turning back the clock to early mid 2010’s for a five week stretch.

I didn’t say we weren’t close to Columbus in the standings. I said they were a non-playoff team under normal rules.

Though if Knies turns into a goal scoring top six player at the NHL level he'd become the best player in that deal long term.

If, if ... Hagel is a top 6 player right now. Fleury is a starter right now.

Leafs should not be in the long term. Each of the core years lost won't come back. Matthews/Marner are signed for just 3 more runs... And I think if they can't get out of the Atlantic (or at the very least win a round), the core will be blown up anyways and Dubas is gone.

He needs a BIG add on that team and to fix that goalie situation.

Now Tampa, Florida and Boston are just stronger.

I don't disagree that the Leafs should be buyers. But Knies in particular is an asset whose value could change very quickly in a short amount of time. And I don't view Hagel as a better player than Kase/Bunting/Kampf who while I like I also wouldn't pay a 1st + Knies for.

I think you can break down the elements of that trade and potentially get them for less individualy

Boston just signed Lindholm for 6.5AAV for 8 years

How ?

We couldn't match that or think that's a good value for him?
He was the D we needed. Boston gave up nothing of value, nothing from their current team and not even any of their top 3 prospects

We only have magic beans left since Dubas f***ed up our cap, and I'm told NHL players don't like being paid in magic beans.
