It was already made public that the trade offer was likely from Chicagos side - not Toronto begging and pleading for Davidson to accept the deal.

I was actually shocked that Ron Maclean started that first intermission with discussing the "Fleury to Toronto deal that fell through", almost a week later, and knowing that Dubas made it clear they weren't trading a first OR Knies. It was actually comical: Maclean still goes on about this trade in the SECOND INTERMISSION and when Friedman reminds him of the logistics, Maclean still makes a comment about how Knies wouldn't have appreciated it?

Maclean was feeding the piranhas and obviously, as evidenced from this thread, they ate that up.
I noticed the same thing as well. They also tried to say this deal coming out will shake Campbell confidence, yet it was Mrazek in the deal. They were never trading Campbell, again silly logic, just trying to stir things up.

Probably means bringing in a goalie to start instead of Campbell will shake his confidence.

I would look at it as Fluery is the insurance policy, just like Mrazek was suppose to be. To me, we still have Mrazek and need him to win games. If Campbell continues to be hurt and or in the playoffs, we need Mrazek to play well, so to me it's him that is most affected by it, and puts our season at risk. If I am Campbell I wouldn't be affected by it. Fluery is not even having as good of year as Campbell.

if Dubas didn't make the offer why didn't he just say so instead of getting all sassy ?
Because he no longer had any fear of losing any leverage in an upcoming deal and decided that spanking a new GM in public was worth divulging info that wasn’t impactful anymore

I would assume had Fluery been acquired he would have been the starter, Mrazek would have been gone.
Only Dubas/Keefe would know for sure.

man that looked like a bizarre deal at the time...and it might look even worse now.

that deal is looking worse and worse by the day ...
really ur going to pay basically 4 combined first/second round talents for a player to play 12 min a night , generate f*** all offensively and no physicality.

Ron McLean is someone I would love to meet in a dark, non CCTV spot. Because there would be no conversation, least not on my side, it would just be a pure meet and greet in the street for me. But I wouldn't want to stay close to him for long, no telling where that nose has been. Imagine someone looking like a jailhouse rat, running intermission for Hockey Night in Canada.

Dubas "loves" officiating...probably not a great way to start the answer: (Reminds of Ned Flanders right before a major meltdown)

Sorry, @Matthews GQ Didn't see your posting on this but I really wanted people to see this answer, especially the beginning.

This was a very soft way to point out we don't get any calls as one of the top teams in the league, which has been going on for way too long. Id prefer he just go out and say its BS we aren't getting calls but that its not his job to direct officiating.

This had to be the case. It was an easy pass IMO. I've never been a huge Fleury fan for this team, especially at the apparent price. Build a fortress for a defense and expect your goalies to find their game.

I love Mrazeks demeanour in the post games. He is not dwelling on the noise that reporters raise, he's almost dismissive. I love it. Just repeats his mantra that it's about the win, seems unflappable of late.

A strong team defensive and physical mindset can do wonders for the goalies confidence (Gio and Bush help in this regard).

Obviously Mrazek would be gone, but Campbell would be the #1 guy still, unless Fluery gets crazy hot. MIN are only using him as a backup.
