Yes!. We should be ANGRY that the DUMBASS didn't spend assets on a journeyman tweener goaltender. It's not like we have two younger goalies with better AHL numbers and are a combined 5-1-1 with a .920 in 7 starts this season
A veteran backup for the playoffs wouldn’t have hurt.

Wow, did you pick the wrong team for that. We all did. Hopefully, more celebrating and less commiserating is coming in May. Hard to be happy as a Leafs fan given the recent failures.

Nobody should tell anyone how to fan. We're all different.
How to fan? I mean, there is a pretty clear difference between being a fan and acting like my ex gf and trust me, she not a fan 😄

Either way, you do you booboo. Once you have a kid ignoring cry babies becomes a superpower

I have a hat trick myself, kids, not ex-gfs.

Hopefully, you've found a new gf who loves the Leafs. Would love if my wife could share my misery but she hates all sports.

Scott Wedgewood's career and status as veteran backup is no different than Michael Hutchinson's.
I’m sure there were dozens of other options.
Hopefully they don’t need to use Hutchinson right?

Why don't you name me these "dozens of other options" that were available and meaningful upgrades on what we already have?
I just asked if you double checked since you seem so positive there were no other options, no need to get sassy .

Do you mean like last year when Dubas dealt a 3rd round pick more David Rittich at the trade deadline?

You mean when Andersen was hurt and refused to return to play after he was cleared by doctors, Hutch wasn’t cutting it and they had no AHL options?

Rittich was just a temporary solution until Andersen was healthy. Campbell seems to be on his way back soon and they still have Kallgren who is performing.

Very different situations, but don’t let that stop you.

I didn’t say there were but judging by your response it seems you didn’t double check or even check once that there no other options and just typically needed to defend the GM .

Are you not concerned with the level of goaltending the Leafs have received from their supposed 1A and 1B goaltenders that has the Leafs near the bottom of the league in sv% in 2022?

Leafs have been getting < .900 sv% from both their starters for months now. I can't remember back to a time where the goaltending situation was ever like this.

Remember Mrazek was on waivers also on TD day, which isn't a vote of confidence in him.

These are Campbell's #'s by month.

October ...,,,,. 7 games[record 3-2-1 ... GAA: 2.31 & sv%: .918
November....11 games[record 9-2-0 ... GAA: 1.27 & sv%: .959
December .... 5 games[record 3-1-1 ... GAA: 2.97 & sv%: .909
January .........8 games[record 5-1-1 ... GAA: 3.57 & sv%: .879
February .......8 games[record 3-2-1 ... GAA: 3.42 & sv%: .894
March ............2 games[record 1-1-0 ... GAA: 4.60 & sv%: .845

Banking on rookies is dangerous IMO.
Probably won’t get to that but it would have been nice to have, just in case.
I believe it’s always prudent to plan for the worst case scenario.

I'm not sure why you think somebody who is doing a great job needs defending. Nothing I said was even about the GM. The only one trying to make this about him is you.

What exactly about the words "there weren't" suggest a lack of checking/double checking? If you had so much doubt about this thing that's pretty obvious to anybody that's been around the past couple weeks, why didn't you just double check yourself?

Banking on rookies is dangerous IMO.
Nobody is "banking on rookies" for the playoffs, and there's nothing wrong with "banking on rookies" to play a couple regular season games as injury fill-in backups, especially when they've performed well in that role thus far.

And a 3rd string goalie is going to solve that? It was either make a big splash upgrade or stay put. Wedgewood isn’t a difference maker and would’ve been a waste of assets. That’s only a deal you make if you are running out of options.

Banking on rookies is dangerous IMO.

I believe it’s always prudent to plan for the worst case scenario.

3 of the last 5 cup winning goalies were rookies, albeit Murray 2-peating makes that a technicality. Obviously not a recipe for success, but not unprecedented. Shouldn’t be a problem if their goalies bounce back to league/career averages.

A- Rittich had started more games in the two years prior than Wedgewood has in his career, not the same type of add.
B- Did we have two young goalies come in and give us a combined 5-1-1 with a .920 from the minors last year?
What is this fixation and fascination you have with Wedgewood?

SJ picked up young goalie Kaapo Kahkonen at the TD from the Wild who has a 12-9-3 record this year, with a 2.92 GAA and a .910 sv% in his 24 starts this year with a $725,000 cap hit. Leafs could have dealt for him including say Travis Dermott.

Instead of a Hail Marry on Harri Sateri who is 32 years old has 9 NHL games in his career and none since 2017.

I sure hope the Leafs are not relying on this Leafs 2 young goalies to carry them in the playoffs if called up.

Besides Campbell is a pending UFA and Mrazek has been a complete bust with 2 more years of $3.8 mil term left... The opportunity was wide open to address the goaltending situation not just this year but beyond as well at the same time here.

If the Leafs flame out again in the first round because of their current goaltending situation, there will be a lot of media and fans calling for Dubas head and rightfully so. IMO

I'm not sure why we didn't just go out and at least get someone like Craig Anderson who probably could have been had cheap

It’s fascinating how upset some get by any perceived criticism. The insecurity knows no bounds.

I get frustrated with stupidity.

Wish we were in on Kahkonen? Sure. I hoped it was us when there was that lag announcing who it was.
Wish we went after a Reimer? why not. I hoped we would when they got KK and had 3 goalies.

Rant about not adding a journeyman that his best is marginally better than the unnacceptable funk our current guys are in, no better than our depth options, and arguably slots in 6th to our healthy depth chart? Yeah I'm going to call it out.
