I think the reason the deal didn’t go through was the inclusion of Knies. Adding Mrazek in the deal, I think it was rumoured to cost 2 1sts and Knies.

But who knows. I could be wrong on that.
the Hawks got similar value trading them separately without having take to back a Mzarek type dump

I didn't really follow what was going on with Chicago. Did the leak say the Leafs offered Knies or that Chicago wanted him?

All we know is that the proposed deal was Knies and two firsts and I’m pretty sure it was said that Leafs walked away, but I could be wrong there. Makes sense though, given Dubas had clearly stated he wasn’t interested in moving 1sts or our best prospects, so it doesn’t really make sense he’d have opened that dialog at such a high price

For sure and I hope they never do. I have a very good friend that is a Boston fan and he has been grinding me the last few weeks as Boston draws closer…….

honestly at this point.....I'm not sure it matters where we finish.

with boston playing tampa tommorrow tampa could easily be in 4th place by tommorrow and we'd be facing a first round matchup with the Bruins.

Think so? We had to give up our best prospect, I don’t believe they did?
i guess it depends on how high someone regards Knives , also if they believe our 1sts will be higher

MAF for a 2nd that changes to a 1st if they make the conference finals
Hagel and two 4ths for two 1sts and a couple of prospects

Still wrong? Never was. You "think" what Armstrong was saying? That's fine if you interpret it that way. I just told you what he said. He tied the 2nd from the Ritchie deal into landing McBain. No debate about that whatsoever.
There is no second from the Ritchie deal unless Arizona waits until 2025. If they draft in 2023, it is a third round pick.

It’s to bad that series that by all rights should be semi finals or cup final series will be played out in the first round.
I will admit it is one tough division this year

That’s just nonsense imo. Teams are not burning contract spots and their owners money as a joke on another GM
Seems obvious and really shouldn't need pointing out.
Teams will worry about themselves first as they should. I think some people think the league is like high school.

Or maybe other GMs were interested in a player who's had three strong years in the KHL back-to-back.
We're always told that Dubas has such an amazing eye for hidden gems. Why wouldn't other teams want to poach that?

rather play bruins than tampa (crazy for us to say that) lol

I'm still in disbelief of the return Chicago got for Brandon Hagel of all people. What the hell was that?!? I think Chicago hit "accept" on the wrong trade offer (it's happened in my fantasy league before).
