Wow.

To the list of legendary ''hockey player with serious injury'' stories, add Kings winger Kyle Clifford, who revealed Thursday that he played four games in the Stanley Cup Final last June with a broken wrist.

Clifford said he suffered the injury during Game 1 against the New York Rangers, but he never missed any action. The fourth-line winger averaged 10 minutes of ice time over the final four games, and even assisted on Alec Martinez’s Cup-winning goal during the second overtime of Game 5.

A week later, after he celebrated and lifted the Cup a few times, Clifford had surgery. No big deal, right?

I wouldn't even consider getting rid of Clifford if it weren't for his concussion history.

^Seconded. He's taken some major heat over the last year or so because his game hasn't "evolved" like Wayne Simmonds' did, but he had a very strong series vs. New York (in fact, IMHO he was one of the Kings' better players in that series), and guys who step up at opportune times like that just shouldn't be written off easily.

Just more of a reason to love this kid. He does all that is ask of him Only reason to trade him is to let him show that hes more then just a 4th line winger which i believe he can be more. I would love to see what he could do with 12-14 mins of play on a regular bases. However i seriously doubt he get in la with King pearson gaborik and brown on this team.

We really don't need some of our players to evolve like happy pokemon. That just means they either fit into the top 6 or get traded. It's okay to have a bottom 6. It's a very necessary part of the game and Clifford seems to do well there. Maybe a little more production, sure, but Wayne Simmonds? Come on, man.

I still believe that those 5 SCF games were the best 5 games he's played in his career. So his key is to always have a broken wrist.

Jim Fox mentioned something during the playoffs about how Clifford really wanted to win the cup as a guy on the ice (remember he was hurt in round 1 in 2012 and never really came back)
He did play like a man possessed.

I'm sure that played a part in it. No way did he want out of the lineup regardless of the wrist injury this time around.

I'm glad the Kings didn't trade Clifford last season, which The Mayor strongly indicated was close to happening.

He's one of those under appreciated guys who fills his role perfectly.

Imagine how well he'd have played if both wrists were broken.

I'm okay, not a problem.

It seems like the more the mayor tells us that domains is going to be traded, the better they do.

That depth is why we won the cup. The willingness to battle through and fight to the very end. Skill and talent are great..but the willingness to give it all is just something you see in every player. Nice job Big Red Dog.

Which year was it that Sutter coached with a hernia? Put off the surgery because he wanted to demonstrate the need to play though pain?

So much attention was given to the Rangers 4th line and defense corps depth...ironic it was the Kings 4th line and third pairing that ended their season.
