Seravalli: Flames/Flyers: Kuzmenko, Pelletier, 2nd, 7th for Frost and Farabee

We all still saw the shooting % and bad skating

There are lots of bad skaters in the NHL who still produce. He was legitimately good his first year in Van and he finished last year pretty solid in Calgary too

Seems to not stick anywhere for very long though. Kind of needs the perfect fit for things to click but the talent is there

Shooting percentage isn't an explanation on its own, it's just a metric that leaves out the explanation.

He is a finisher and it reluctant to shoot. His successful seasons will always look like shooting percentage outliers. Sort of like the scoring side of Tanguay or Ribeiro. Sometimes to maddening degrees, they won't shoot unless it's an A+ chance.

It's also funny that people want to play it both ways. Kuzmenko sucks and Petey is overrated.

Petey had a big hand in Kuzmenko's success but Kuz also had the creativity and skills to play off of Petey better than anyone has since.

Kuzmenko can be useful and score a lot playing off of a linemate/line that does most of the puck retrievals and transporting which means he probably has to be in the perfect situation to be a big part of a winning team.

But he's not useless or terrible. He's just a boutique item that one purchases when their other ducks are a in a row.

He was but there were also signs it was unsustainable. There was talk of his coach not liking him that first year already - and the team was done with him after like 2 weeks into the next year.

Yeah not 39 goals sustainable but he was playing well enough to be a 25/25 guy. The problem is when he’s off he’s not only useless but a net negative. And he’s off way too often

Kuzmenko will score 20 goals in the next 30 meaningless Flyers games, costing them lottery ping pong balls and probably getting a new contract after which he will score 8 goals for the entirety of next season and being completely useless.

In what world do the Flames come out of that trade as a loss? Flames cleaned up in that trade.

lol.
Hunter and Gridin are both top prospects in our season. No matter how some fans want to flip this, that was a 10/10 win for the Flames.

Somehow the Bruins lost the transactions between Calgary and Vancouver.
