Confirmed Trade: [NYR/ANA] Chris Kreider and 2025 4th for Carey Terrance and 2025 3rd

So confused what Rangers plan is. Why trade a guy who was insanely valuable during your 24 run, had a down year in 24-25 but explained clearly he was dealing with issues that led to that. Add in that the UFA market is meh not sure what gaining this cap space really is going to do and you lose offense and experience.
They need cap space to sign RFAs Cuylle and Miller.

It wasn't just about trading there Captain. They forced out multiple players who had been on the team for a long time and forced them to locations on their NTC.

Any player signing with the Rangers should demand a full NMC because Drury will worm around anything else.
Other than Trouba, Goodrow was the only other player that was "forced" to another team. He wasn't traded either, just waived.

I don't disagree with this. If I am a player a full NTC isn't safe. Now only so many can demand that however.

I think he’ll do solid in Anaheim….
Giving up Terrance + 4th isn’t much of anything for us

we have play makers on the team we just need someone to put puck in the net more

Hopefully him, gauthier , Vatrano and colangelo can help increase our goal scoring

Kreider Carlsson Terry
Zegras McTavish Vatrano
Gauthier Strome Sennecke
Killorn

Zegras out?

Drury tried to trade Goodrow to the Sharks. Goodrow said no, Drury worked out a deal that the Sharks would claim him once waived.

He got around a NTC, which was completely legal but is why I said. Any player singing with the Rangers wanting trade protection better also demand a NMC

I'm confused... it sounds like you're disagreeing, but everything you said validates their post, as "multiple" means more than 1, and if I remembering my finger counting right, 2 is more than 1.

Im disagreeing because waiving a player with a NTC isn't "forcing them to a team." It's perfectly within the rules of the contract. San Jose was under no obligation to claim him. The Rangers didn't receive any compensation for them doing so. "Forcing" is just an incorrect term in the scenario.

Kreider for free is hard to argue with. Just two years left, and if the owner is to believed, his salary won't interfere with any other big moves the team wants to make.

Any help on the PP and in the room is welcome.

If guys don't like NTC, then ask for a NMC which will result in less money. Or just take more money and get no NTC at all.

Some players understand this, but like escrow others are idiots.

i'm still shocked at the hyperbolic takes from Rangers fans about Kreider. The Ducks aren't helping the Rangers out. Its the Rangers decision to sell off their vets for nothing. The Rangers are losing a top 6 F who is coming off an injury riddled campaign and who was unmotivated in a disastrous environment. Kreider still potted over 20 goals playing 3/4 of the season with 3 different injuries.

If he's healthy, he's scoring 30 next year with Anaheim. Also, he's a PP asset and the Ducks had the worst PP in the league.

6.5M over the next 2 years for a team that is going to have ~$20M in cap space even after they resign their top FAs and take a big swing on the FA market is completely fine.

Tarrance and a 3rd for Kreider and a 4th is the final deal
Personally think it's a good trade for both clubs.

One gets the cap space they wanted and the other gets a solid vet presence for their top 6.

And for Anaheim they are doing exactly what I wished my Oilers did for years. Bringing in a guy to help the younger players take the next step at a very minimal cost. Not some sort of long-term deal that will cripple them when they are ready to take yet another step

Combine that with Panarin coming off the books, after this season, and the Rangers can afford to (over)spend on Free Agents as they have done in the past to great success.

Yeah, not sure why ANA would pay to take Kreider when the Rangers are one of the fewer teams that actually need to move salary out even with the cap higher.

If a team feels like what they're giving up is okay for what they're getting back, why would they care if it helps the other team out or not? Sometimes interests align, not every transaction has to be zero sum.

Strome is terrible, it should be him that's out or moved to the 4th line but who knows.

Would be a big mistake to give up on Zegras before we see how he does under a competent coach.

I wouldn't say terrible, but he was definitely over-used by Cronin ... no way he should have been near a PP unit or just getting such heavy usage in general.

On first glance, Anaheim's best bet is probably to split guys up and make a top 9, with Leo, McT, and Z down the middle, Gauthier, Kreider, and Vatrano on LW. And then just mix and match the RWs.
