I figured this had a chance to happen after Kravtsov was being sent down to Hartford; the last time, he didn't take it well. I didn't see any of the NYR preseason games, so I can't judge on how he looked, whether or not he deserved to stick on the NHL roster.
It's disappointing that he hasn't played well enough as a top 10 pick 3 years ago to make sending him down again a moot point. He has the skill, showed fairly well in the NHL last season, despite not being able to produce offensively as much as we hoped. Played a good 2 way game, though that's not what they drafted him for.
Is there a sense of entitlement? Does he think he should be guaranteed a roster spot? As Edge said earlier, he comes from a wealthy family, so he likely hasn't seen a need to earn what he wants to accomplish in hockey, or in life. Who are his influences? Someone needs to get into this kid's head and get him to realize that to accomplish what you want, you have to work to get there. There will be ups and downs, but you plug through.
It always stings to have a top 10 pick not pan out for you. If he goes elsewhere and the light bulb comes on, he becomes a borderline All Star player, that would suck even more.
