After the initial sting from the realization that the team won't have his talent and services, yes, definitely want to weed them out. They want to start a new culture here, and as someone said earlier, can't be having malcontents in the room at Game 1 of a long season. If I am Kravtsov, I'd do the same thing 10 out of 10 times. If am Kravtsov, I know I'm better than most AHLers at this point and I can hedge a bet on my career on another NHL team and ply my trade there.
Nah… if I’m Kravstov, I do what shesterkin did. I go to Hartford, put up insane numbers and force the organization to play me or trade me because I’m such hot shit and my numbers show it. Shesterkin literally earned ice time away from the organization’s franchise player at that point and did so as a third wheel to the goalie situation.

Kravstov as a winger could have done the same, and far more easily I might add. This was totally wrong and unnecessary. And it’s only going to hurt his career.

Doubtful he ever really wanted to be in North America since he stayed in Russia for as long as he could before he knew he would burn his shot with the Rangers. If he could not win a spot on the roster and responds by quiting on the organization than I do think it’s time to let him go( trade)before he has absolutely no value. He’s had his shot and been basically invisible for most of it beyond very limited flashes of better than average.

Literally every team in the NHL

21 years old.

Are there any adults in the building who can step in to salvage this?

One more thing we can blame Gorton for. He drafted these guys. Add that to the list of mistakes including McDonagh trade fiasko, ADA, Trouba contract etc. Gorton really f***ed this rebuilt up. If it wasn't for the lotteries we won and Panarin + Fox wanting to play for us we would be a bottom team.

I agree with some things there, not others.

When VK was drafted it was 2018. The team was at the beginning of a rebuild had none of the high end offensive talent it has today. Chytil was the best player in the system. No Kakko, no Laffy, no Fox, No Lundkvist, no Jones. Did VK have question marks about his character? Yeah. But did he show up in the playoffs in the KHL in a big way in his draft year as a 17 year old kid? Yes. They swung for pure talent knowing they had two more first rounders coming up later in that same round. The fact that they swung and hit on all three and that all have played in the NHL is spectacular. But sometimes you have to swing on high end talent with question marks. At the time the team had only Andersson and Chytil and nothing else. There are risks clearly. This is also why they took ADA in a trade. They were looking to maximize the talent level and character was taking a bit of a backseat.

This all said, VK is still a smart pick.

I will laugh so hard if this happens and start calling our GM "Dirty Drury"
That level of dark magic is something not even Yzerman has mastered yet, it's too powerful. Drury would be trapped in the shadow realm for eternity if he even tried to utter that proposal out loud.

What other teams top 6 is this guy walking into? The hyperbole on here is wild
I don't know about "walking into", but there are certainly teams that should be interested (unless this tantrum of hiss turns them off). I'll tell you what, we could use a potential top-6/9 winger in Colorado on a league minimum...

And we're not even talking about the BAD teams who can offer up a spot in their top-6 just like that for a reclamation project. Anaheim, Buffalo, Arizona... whatever. I just hope Kravtsov and NYR didn't botch a potential trade by letting this whole thing blow up.

I will say this much.

Everyone loves the homerun swings ... until they don't connect.

VK was definitely a swing for fences. Extremely talented, but also a kid who didn't always grab the game like his talent dictated it should.

Spare me the entitlement. The younger generations are saddled with the trash that the older generations have heaped upon them. My parents and grandparents were able to go to school for pennies on the dollar. Those people who started working at Goldman in the 80's sat pretty for the world they grew up in.

Now, you go to Harvard and you leave with hundreds of thousands in debt and you're expected to work to the bone for 80K just so you can pay off loans.
Yep. CUNY schools used to be free…

Imagine going to Baruch, which is currently considered one of the best bang-for-your-buck business schools for free.

Or going to Brooklyn College for free. Where currently, pump out so many public school teachers who don’t get paid nearly as much as they did and didn’t have nearly the benefits they did 50 years ago.

Reactions: Machinehead
Starting to think Hajek has incriminating stuff of some kind he's holding on to as leverage. The guy has escaped 1) expansion draft, 2) Machinehead's wrath and 3) Hartford. Handles the puck like Edward Scissorhands. Handles life like Game of Thrones.

MH has been vocal on Hajek, I believe

puck drop in 10 in tampa. let's get this shit show of a season on the road. We've gotten all the drama out of the way last season and now Zib re-signed and Vitali Anderssoned. Nothing left to worry about.

Well, he's 21. And he does tons of little savvy things out there that would have been appreciated had we been able to watch him for any extended amount of time. He is at this moment ahead of the Buch's development curve as far as the game goes.

At 21, his development is far from stalled. That said, its his big rush to be in the NHL that makes it seem like he should be further ahead than he is. He's just 1 year older than Kakko at this moment and he was the 9th overall. Not 2nd overall who was in the #1OA conversation.

As far as the pick, I still think it was a smart one despite everything that's gone down.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't we say the exact same things about Lias? Has someone put a curse on HF whereby we are forced to have this same conversation every year?
