You’re missing the point, Prince.

Spare me the entitlement. The younger generations are saddled with the trash that the older generations have heaped upon them. My parents and grandparents were able to go to school for pennies on the dollar. Those people who started working at Goldman in the 80's sat pretty for the world they grew up in.

Now, you go to Harvard and you leave with hundreds of thousands in debt and you're expected to work to the bone for 80K just so you can pay off loans.

The team has no one to blame but itself for the bind it’s idiotic Kreider decision put them in.
I mean, let’s be realistic here…

Regardless of what you think of the Kreider contract, in what reality did Kravstov ever prove he deserved a wing spot over him? Seriously. The guy was legitimately at best 4th best RW on the team by the time camp finished.

The thing is, for everyone saying we should take the Lias compensation and run, I think that's terrible.

VK could be playing top 9 role in the nhl on many teams right now. Does he have question marks? Yup. But, developmentally, is he pretty close to where one would expect a 9th OA pick? Yeah, I'd say so. He has size, hands, vision and skating ability that Lias never had. Lias on the other hand had and still has far more questions. 2nd round pick is a terrible return for VK. I'm convinced he has a higher ceiling than Poolparty who the Oilers wouldn't trade for Lias. We would need a legit return to move VK. I would want a prospect or multiple picks in return.

And I have to say this too: you aren’t gonna convince me that one of the reasons there’s no spot for Kravtsov on the big club is because of their ridiculous and unhealthy obsession with filling their lineup with grit and fighters.

Even if VK thinks he outplayed Laffy (which I think he did), that is still no excuse to pout and run home with the ball. It's lame x a million. You're not guaranteed anything kid. You need to prove it again and again and again. Jeez.

I don’t believe this spin job that he was fourth best. Wasn’t Gallant just talking about playing him kn the first line if the Kreider experiment didn’t work out?

I buy he was no Buch. But I don’t buy that Hunt and Reaves and Gauthier were better unless he was only being measured on his grit, which, as a 21 year old Russian, no surprise he doesn’t have any.

He was demoted because he lost the 2RW job to Kreider - not shocking either - and he didn’t play heavy enough for their liking to win a job in the bottom 6.

And since that is their new f***ing obsession they don’t bother thinking about whether they actually need any more grit there or whether they should try developing the skill they have.

That’s because he knew Lou would send his goons after him and break his knees. Nobody’s afraid of Drury , Little League World Series ring notwithstanding
Lou still prefers his old-fashioned Rolodex over contacts in his cell phone. Interestingly, he's only got one card under "G." "Gillooly"

Not that I'm surprised, but sad to see so many people call him "low character." Why should an NHL level player play in the AHL, for an obscene amount of less money because the team can't fit him on their roster.

Would you take a demotion from your job for like 10 or 20% of the pay you make currently, or would you look for another place to work.

The Rangers f***ed up here. And it's becoming a pattern.

Because he’s not an NHL level player yet

I came to the US not speaking a word of English when I was 10. Was picked on in school for years. Had two concussions from karate and soccer. Eventually graduated in financial engineering in 2010 (when Wall Street wasn’t hiring). Was unemployed for over a year after my first employer downsized IB analysts. Now I’m a portfolio manager in electricity and gas derivatives and an adjunct finance professor. You need to fight to succeed.

I'll repeat something from a friend who works for another organization. Right, wrong or otherwise, here was his response:

"Part of the challenge for the Rangers with some of these higher European picks has been that they took guys who didn't need to make it to the NHL to be okay. Lias is the son of an NHLer who has lived a comfortable life and could continue to live a comfortable life even if he told the Rangers to go jump in a lake. Kravtsov comes from an affluent family and has never faced the prospect of failure resulting in having to go work in a factory somewhere."

Part of the challenge for the Rangers is given their market, they do not need to fear the possibility of failure.

yes, i would. It's called grit. Not the physical kind. The mental kind. I've been paid poorly to do meaningful work. I've been paid well to do meaningless work. And everything in between. It's called showing up even when you know you're just eating shit for the time being. And by eating shit I mean getting paid 70k+/year plus whatever signing bonuses to play the game you love. I can't name a single person on this entire board who wouldn't take that deal if they were young enough and healthy enough.

But you're right, no one should be paying a mentally weak individual any of that money if they can't act like a mature professional.
