Hey, if you want to trash Drury I can live with it. But I'm not going to let you trash my favorite movie.Agreed, so far he has been all striptease.

Yup. I was one who didn't mind it, ignoring the warning signs. Stupid of me and a lot of others.Lots of people didn't find the medal throwing super impressive.
Someone in this thread had asked about Kravtsov's offseason. Here at 25 seconds he says "Whole summer, I didn't play at all. Like I play one and a half games that didn't count."
Unimpressive in Russia (IMO), unimpressive in Hartford, unimpressive everywhere.Agreed, so far he has been all striptease.
Let's even throw the appeasing narrative out for a second.
The Rangers are in a shitty situation with a player who walked away once before and had a contentious exit interview to end last season.
At some point, it has nothing to do with appeasing. It's about strategically not shooting yourself in the foot based on timing that doesn't get you closer to the better possible outcome.
You either move him before you get to this point, or you but yourself cover to maximize a return without causing a scene or raising the odds of decreasing value.
At the end of the day it's really not about appeasing or VK's feelings.
He signed a contract, he owes his employers (the club) the terms of that contract as well as following NHLPA rules. If he was worried about the pay disparity or lack of a guarantee, he should have stayed where he was. You are correct, in a right to work environment one can leave at will (respecting valid NDAs and compete clauses). These are 2 different employment models. What does he owe to the club? I can see where he feels he may have been jerked around OR he realizes he is not going to get a top-6 role here, so why not move on? Is his salary the same if he is in Hartford vs the big club? If not, I can certainly see where he has an issue considering he can make a hell of a lot more money in the KHL than the AHL.
I get the fans perspective, but for the players it is their business first and foremost. They have a finite time to make as much money as possible. Fans also love to compare these players to regular people working a 9-5 job. Well, people quit jobs leave for rival companies all the time if they feel they were unjustly demoted, passed up for a promotion, asked to take a paycut.
Yeah I know a few people liked Farabee at the time but he wasn't the "obvious" pick that most wanted. That, as you said, was Wahlstrom, and I can do with him, too.I'm not gonna harp on the pick itself. I try to do that less these days. It's mostly luck.
Farabee would be nice but the obvious pick there was Wahlstrom, so Farabee kinda feels like "let's just pick out a name to sit on the pity potty." Like when we revisit McIlrath and go to Tarasenko six picks later.
And as for Wahlstrom, he's a good prospect. Is he life-changing right now considering what we already have at wing? Not really.

Sources say Kravtsov’s new agent, Dan Milstein, has been given permission by the Rangers to seek a fresh start with another franchise. Kravtsov changed agents over the summer, likely with this exact scenario in mind – as it was no secret that he has little interest in playing in the AHL.
Kravtsov has spent parts of each of the last two seasons playing back in his native Russia. While the Rangers have fired the two people responsible for drafting Kravtsov in GM Jeff Gorton and Director of European Scouting Nick Bobrov, at this point, the Rangers would certainly not be willing to terminate Kravtsov’s contract to make him a free agent. If he does decide to return to Russia this time, it would likely be on a loan, at which point the Rangers would own his rights until the age of 27, even after his entry-level contract expires at the end of this season.
Kravtsov has two goals and two assists for four points in 20 career NHL games. His teammates have lauded his elite-level hockey sense, but have wondered privately about his work ethic and interest in winning puck battles – having earned the reputation of ‘floating’ on the ice.

"You're in Connecticut, just paroozing around, fitting in with all the other well to do New Englanders. Suddenly it hits. Pizza craving. SALLYS OR COLONY GO!"Drury's gonna have to get into some roleplay from now on for predraft prospect interviews. "I want you to pretend it's 2 years from now, you're 20, it's October and we just gave the last spot to Joe Slapshot, you just got a call from your agent saying you're going to be sent down to Hartford. Tell me how you're feeling and if you have an overwhelming urge to demand a trade"

While Krav's play was foolish and childish,... and should not belong in the NHL,... Drury and management are truly dropping the ball. We all know the preseason,... is to put together the best team possible to win hockey games. The players are told if they work hard and show their best they can win spots on the team. And then they pull the rug out from underneath them because of roster, eligibility requirements and business concerns. Let's get real. We are not putting the best players on the ice opening day. That is obvious. The whole work hard and earn a spot is a shame.
Gallant used Krav's injury as some sort of setback, but did it effect Reaves ability to play opening night? It is a double standard.
Of course he stood in front of the mic and touted Hunt and Gauthier won their spots outright, otherwise the whole ruse will fall apart. When we all know this had nothing to do with who won spots. It was all a business decision, on who was waiver exempt plain and simple.
It's a total shame. At least they should be honest with their players, if not with the fan base. And something tells me they weren't honest with Kravtsov.
Hopefully just a footnote in the season.
Choosing Hajek aside, was it a good call to cut him? Was he dogging it in the pre-season? Assumed he had a spot no matter what?
What can we hope to get in return for a disgruntled flight risk? Blais 2.0? Or something more sexy?
Sounds like my HFNYR careerUnimpressive in Russia (IMO), unimpressive in Hartford, unimpressive everywhere.
