This is right and wro

You had me until Tarasenko. Farabee was a guy a couple of us here chatted up, but he was clearly behind Wahlstrom and Dobson on the pick list. You can’t complain about that one.

Tarasenko was a guy we were doing backflips watching drop. Just because a couple of teams after us passed as well doesn’t change the fact that he was the “obvious” pick for many people at 10 that year.

In most cases, the names that get mentioned the most were names that people on here had on the radar and were vocal about.

Why does Getzlaf get mentioned and not Jeff Carter? Because a lot of this board saw him coming. Ditto for Tarasenko or Farabee. To a lesser extend, it's why people wish we could've moved up for Zegras and Lundell.

On the flip side, it's why we don't to hear too many hang-ups about someone like Giroux. Hell of a player, but we never "crushed" on him as a board.

Wow, yeah, I didn't even see this!

Y'all gotta give Lafreniere a minute.

After two years, I'm really starting to see it with Kakko and I'm really excited. It'll happen for Laf too.

Because of factors beyond our control, this just hasn't been the best environment for quick development. And that's because we're not really a lottery team. We jumped five spots to get Kakko and like 13 spots to get Lafreniere or something. We had talent ahead of them and we're trying to win games. We're not just leaning on them 20 minutes a night of the gate like Ottawa can do with Stutzle or Jersey can do with Hughes.

That slowed them down but it's gonna happen.
People think we drafted Sidney Crosby when we really drafted Jonathan Huberdeau

I get that, but at the same time, I also feel like this situation wouldn't have been a secret around the league. You would know better than I would, but I'm not sure this tanks his value as much as people are implying.

I'm sure DeAngelo was shopped before the shit hit the fan, but front offices around the league knew the baggage before we did.

I think it'll have a decent impact on the value. Unfortunately.

If this were the first time something like this happened, maybe not. But this is the second high-profile incident.

The window to start making something work really started last spring.

ADA had value. Whether or not it would've met fan expectations is another matter altogether.

If this was a shocker for the Rangers, or not considered as a distinct possibility by the powers that be, than heaven help us.

You get burned once, shame on the player. When this happens multiple times (and twice by one player), then you need to look inward as well.

wt% is wrong with us?

Can't lose this kid.

While Krav's play was foolish and childish,... and should not belong in the NHL,... Drury and management are truly dropping the ball. We all know the preseason,... is to put together the best team possible to win hockey games. The players are told if they work hard and show their best they can win spots on the team. And then they pull the rug out from underneath them because of roster, eligibility requirements and business concerns. Let's get real. We are not putting the best players on the ice opening day. That is obvious. The whole work hard and earn a spot is a shame.

Gallant used Krav's injury as some sort of setback, but did it effect Reaves ability to play opening night? It is a double standard.

Of course he stood in front of the mic and touted Hunt and Gauthier won their spots outright, otherwise the whole ruse will fall apart. When we all know this had nothing to do with who won spots. It was all a business decision, on who was waiver exempt plain and simple.

It's a total shame. At least they should be honest with their players, if not with the fan base. And something tells me they weren't honest with Kravtsov.
This 100% !!!

This isn't correct, goddamn why are people focusing on Gauthier. Look at the lineups, Gauthier is the 13F. Kravtsov lost his spot on the third line to Blais. The line is Blais-Chytil-Goodrow
The fourth line is Hunt-Rooney-Reaves

It has nothing to do with Gauthier other than he'll be the 13th F and it'd also be dumb to keep Kravtsov as the 13th F
The moment we traded Buch for Blais' VK lost that battle. Blais' spot was never in question. The team identified Blais as what they wanted before the Buch trade and had him pegged for line 3. HF had other ideas but Drury had plans. The 4th line wasn't the place for VK either. So really it was Kravtsov versus Gathier for 13th forward/being used to give players a rest or covering for an injury. VK doesn't fit that role + Gathier outplayed him, hence why he was sent down. That's a way more realistic discussion than Kravtsov vs. Blais which was a landslide loss for VK months ago.

Holtz is two years younger, and didn’t have the KHL pedigree that Kravtsov had. Kravtsov’s further along the timeline than Holtz is and Holtz isn’t being yo-yo’ed. there is a difference.
I understand the age difference, but the premise of the assignment is exactly the same. A young player either deemed not ready for the NHL or deemed to have a better development opportunity at a lower level. It’s not like Kravstov has been developing on the roster for 2 years and has now fallen out of favor. If Kakko was assigned to Hartford over Gauthier and requested a trade, I would be more understanding.

Kravstov has spent all of 59 games (NHL and AHL combined) with this organization and has done largely nothing to prove he’s ready to be handed a top 9 spot. I’m not knocking his abilities or trying to diminish his value…I think he’s incredibly talented and is (was?) a big part of our future. But I also think seasoning him in the AHL rather than giving him a limited role at the NHL level was a prudent decision and a commonly used strategy by every single team.

No one is bigger than the club, not Gilbert, not Graves, not The King, nobody - certainly not this entitled kid
What does he owe to the club? I can see where he feels he may have been jerked around OR he realizes he is not going to get a top-6 role here, so why not move on? Is his salary the same if he is in Hartford vs the big club? If not, I can certainly see where he has an issue considering he can make a hell of a lot more money in the KHL than the AHL.

I get the fans perspective, but for the players it is their business first and foremost. They have a finite time to make as much money as possible. Fans also love to compare these players to regular people working a 9-5 job. Well, people quit jobs leave for rival companies all the time if they feel they were unjustly demoted, passed up for a promotion, asked to take a paycut.

I'm no fan of this management group or the moves they've made, but I'm genuinely baffled at the amount of people that apparently preferred to gift wrap a decent sized role to a player that has, to date, done nothing but be disappointing and underwhelming.

They maybe could've been proactive if they saw this situation coming, but not by catering to him like he's ever proven to be important.

Their IG & Twitter comments are pretty bad. You can also like how a team is constructed and still think the GM is doing a piss poor job of asset management. For instance I am one of Drury’s biggest detractors on here but I’m also one of the biggest advocates of grit. Machinehead is one of the biggest new age hockey guys (focused on analytics & less grit) yet he is one of Drury’s biggest supporters. I think Blais is a good acquisition; not at the cost of Buchnevich. I love Reaves, I don’t mind hunt. I don’t love these guys blocking an elite talent like Kravtsov.
I don't think Rangers Twitter/IG/HFNYR are particularly reflective of the Rangers' fan base as a whole, and certainly not what you'd find at MSG. Half of the people regularly attending games wouldn't even remember Kravtsov from last year, a quarter would probably call him a soft bum and some other offensive things, and then maybe the remaining quarter might have nuanced and informed opinions about him (and Drury/the team's general direction/etc.).

If the Rangers go out there and do nothing but play mediocre hockey while beating the shit out of other teams, a lot of the MSG faithful would love it. And a lot of the fan base at large would love it, too. Social media does not reflect reality, or even close to it, IMO.

It’s like a unhealthy relationship between two people. One side thinks they have the ability to fix the other and all that ends up happening is a break up eventually

The Rangers seem to be under the impression they can fix these guys instead of just pulling the eject cord early and saving themselves from this unpleasantness

You’d think after being burned multiple times you think they’d learn

F**king Sanguinetti...

It all started here.

I listened to a Gorton interview about drafts. He said you have to listen to the guys that have watched these kids for weeks/months. Either that is deflecting responsibility of decisions or management truly lets Clarke own the whole process up and including the final decision.
