The NHL’s March 1 trade deadline is fast approaching. Khudobin is scheduled to start Thursday night in Los Angeles, stop No. 3 on the club’s four-city trip, which concludes with a Sunday matinee in Dallas.

The Bruins are clinging to a playoff spot in the Eastern Conference, hoping to avoid a third consecutive postseason DNQ. It could be that his start vs. the Kings is Khudobin’s final chance to keep his gig as Rask’s reliever.

“Yep, we could,†said Sweeney, asked if could be targeting a backup as the trade window closes. “It’s tough to find at this time, but they exist. But it’s just a matter of teams are like, ‘Well, what are you giving up for it?’ That’s a big art of it.â€

I really really really hope so

Hoping Khudobin plays the game of his life in LA on Thursday but otherwise they have no choice but to try and find somebody.

I think Cassidy screwed up by playing Rask in Anaheim and slotting Khudobin for the Kings game. The Ducks are fairly secure in the playoff hunt and the Kings will be desperate for two points.

The Ducks were far short of a sellout on Wednesday - 15,135 (88.1% full) - and there had to be at least 5,000 Bruins fans at the game. Staples will be sold out and a strong Kings crowd.

I have a bad feeling about tonight.

I think the reasoning for Rask playing last night Fenway is despite the B`s not playing a hectic schedule the rest of the way in, they have had an insane sched to this point and this gives Tuukka an extra day of rest prior to the Stars game

I know the Kings are in a similar spot to the B`s in the pursuit of a playoff spot but of the two teams, the Kings aren`t as potentially explosive as the Ducks

Hopefully Dobby has some confidence back. I think it was the right move to play Tuukka last night - it is the toughest of the back-to-backs and the Ducks are still a better team than LA. They have to give Dobby a chance tonight IMO, we aren't going far by burning out Tuukka.

Good luck finding a good back-up though....the Hamburglar was on waivers and no one picked him up. It is tough to find good help. I remember the days of Timmy and Tuukka fondly.

could've had the jackets goalie off waivers a couple months ago.
why would we trade for one now? Sweeney dropped the ball on that one. The Leafs claimed him and we could've grabbed him before the Leafs

Khudobin's 16-17 Save percentages game by game- .906 .870 .938 .852 .818 .967 .931 ..862 .833

Based on that it looks like 5 bad performances and 4 good ones, almost mimics the team performance overall-til lately. I wouldn't give up on him considering the hand issue and the team's performance in general.

I get your point but you have to admit watching him is witnessing helter skelter.

How about playing RASK more? Imagine that? Guy is getting paid $7.5 - there isnt anything saying he cant play more games. They spent a #1 on Subban....FIGURE IT OUT.

Bruins have 3 back-to-back remaining after the deadline.

15-16 March against Cal and Edm (I may give one to the backup)

20-21 March against Tor and Ott (I want Rask in net for both)

1-2 April against Flo and Chi (these are games 78+79 of the season. Depending of the standings, I may want Rask in net for both.)

That means the backup would get 1-2 more games after tonight.

Sweeney looking for a backup goalie at the deadline? He's about 5 months to late...

Ridiculous that he is just now talking about getting a backup goalie. First, a backup at this point will only play a few games. If the Bs make the playoffs a backup will play no games. Why give up.assets for only a few games? Second, it was very obvious months ago that a backup was needed. It would have been easier then to get one than at this point as the deadline approaches. Poor management.
