This is likely an unrealistic scenario, but I'm curious what interest these four guys would garner around the league. LA has a whole wave of youth incoming, with Byfield, Turcotte, and Kupari already making their NHL debuts and playing well. It might be time for LA to move on from some of its heroes and let them compete for cups elsewhere.

If the return made sense, LA could retain on one of Kopitar, Brown, or Quick.

What offers might LA receive?

If I'm the King's I'd trade these guys but Doughty. Defence is going to look lean without a high end dman to take the reins.

Doughty was looking good before getting injured. I'd hold on to him until next season to see make a judgment call regarding his future on the team. I can't see many teams having interest in Brown.

Quick would gather some interest on teams looking to stack up for playoffs. Like Colorado if LA retained, or maybe Buffalo decides they need a goalie next season to temporary hold them over. Maybe a second for plus mid prospect for Quick if money was retained.

The price to pay for these players would be way too much for most teams to stomach in my opinion.

The hope is Clarke is ready sooner then later

There was chatter that Clarke might've made the team out of camp this season before he got mono.

There were some posters around here suggesting Quick to Edmonton for Koskinen and a first. I'd do that if I was Blake.

I could see Brown joining Carter in Pittsburgh with Hextall in the GM seat. It probably wouldn't take much.

The big one would be Kopitar and I'm sure a lot of teams would be highly motivated to acquire him. Especially if LA was willing to eat a lot of his cap hit. He's only signed for two more years after this season and LA really doesn't have any big contracts to dish out any time soon.

Brown as a 50% UFAstill is hard to get to teams because of limited space. LA might have to take a high 1+ yr salary back to get anything worthwhile. He’s not value able to give up a pick to a pass thru to retain.

Quick at 50%. I haven’t looked at how he has done this year. Salary is going to be an issue.

the other two aren’t getting traded this season.

They should keep Kopitar and Doughty. Trading Brown, Quick, and a few other players like Athanasiou and Edler should allow them to tank.

I’m pretty sure Quick’s cap hit at 50% is under $3mil so I’m not sure how that would be a problem?

check how many teams have $3M in space. that market is very limited
More to an a few contenders have it, add in a salary dump and it’s there so what’s the problem?
The Kings can not o it retain 50% but also take back salary.. with the same exception that term is only a year left in the contract

Ranta? Why don't you counter?
I honestly wouldn’t know where to begin considering how conscious the Avs are about their cap situation..
At 50%, Kopitar is still around $5mill… so some salary has to come back right?
We need a RHD and I don’t think we need picks

I am operating under the assumption Compher is dumped in a separate deal which shouldn't be too difficult, unless LA wanted him.

The only RHD on the roster are Makar and Erik Johnson so not much to offer there. RHD prospects are Justin Barron and Drew Helleson who are both highly regarded.

I suppose an offer could look something like Newhook+Helleson+?. Seems a bit rich, but then again Kopitar at 5mil for 3 playoff runs is insane value.

Nah they are stocked on the right side they need LHD and some goal scorers mainly on the wing.
Some tough players with size also. I think Colorado is a good fit for Kopitar. I cant see him getting traded but it may be a good move.

per CF
Quick has no restrictions, is a pending-UFA in '23 (thanks @FunkSoljah for catching my error)
Brown has a 7 team NO-trade list
Kopitar has 7 team trade list
Doughty's similar list starts in '23-24, NMC till then

It would suck for a year or two to lose all of them but it would speed up the rebuild massively and make the Kings a powerhouse sooner than later.
