Big Slovenian forward ANZE KOPITAR (6'4 198) who plays in Sweden, is dominating this tournament so far...after the first 2 games (both wins for Slovenia)he has 6 goals and 3 assists!

He is 2005 draft eligible (of course it looks like there will be no draft if the lockout is not solved before this june) --but with a poor crop of Russians and Czechs,Finns, and Swedes, who would have thought Slovenia might be providing one of the gems of this draft class?

Good to hear if a new country can enter the hockey circuit, with his size he'll get a good draft position. Even more reason to increase the size of the tournaments.

is he 6'0 or 6'4?

or 6'2? :)
Scouting reports etc list him often as 6'4. The Swedish fans that have seen him in Sweden this season say his 6'0, which is also the figure his team and the Swedish ice hockey federation lists him under.
I thought I was going to see him play this Sunday, to make up my own mind, but unfortunately Kopitar wasn't playing since he was preparing for this current tourney :)

How is he doing in Sweden? I'm sure some of the teams in Sweden are better than some of the national teams he is playing.

What are his numbers in Sweden this year?

Very respectable (although not remarkable) 14 goals, 6 assists in 17 games. (http://www.eliteprospects.com/player.php?player=4233)

Those numbers could be compared to the top Swedish prospect (Nicklas Bergfors) who has 10 goals and 5 assists in 10 games. However, Bergfors has been considered good enough to get ice time in the SEL, which has not been the case with Kopitar.

If I remember correctly Kopitar got the chance to play with the seniors during preseason, but struggled played against men. However, if Södertälje suffers several injuries there is a chance he will get a call-up to Södertälje's SEL team.

You'll find the junior scoring leaders in Sweden at this url (Kopitar is 13th)
