"When andersen gets injured before thanksgiving, and is out all season, PK will get his chance to start and Martin is OK for a backup"

Reality -
Andersen should have been jettisoned after his playoff fail, and an NHL backup should have been brought in while keeping Martin in reserve because PK plays....... like an idiot. A fun idiot, our idiot, but an idiot.

Having andersen here you needed a 3rd goalie anyway. Because theres no way hes making it 82 games without being out for at least 50 of them.

I would not make a trade based on this. Average time missed is about 2 weeks; with players who have multiple concussions tending to increase that average and to my knowledge this is Koochie's first concussion.

Ride it out for 6-7 games (or less potentially).

I wonder what David Ayres is up to, or Antti Raanta.

Not sure I’d just ride it out for 6-7 games they’re also one injury away from having a Tokarski Perets tandem now

Not only that but Kooch has shown in his career he is injury prone himself so even once he comes back you have to assume we'll be back here later this year.

We don't necessarily need to grab a starting goalie, though it would help, but just someone to avoid being in a situation where Perets is needed. That kid ain't ready for prime time, not yet at least, and it would do him no favors to throw him out there now.

Agreed. I think they will watch the waiver wire and maybe sign Tokarski since they are only at 44 contracts.

I'm not opposed to going full LTIR for this season and making a move for a Nedeljkovic or Vanacek or Blackwood. Someone you don't feel bad about having to potentially waive if Andersen and Kochetkov are both healthy and you need the cap space. That said, if we get back to Andersen and Kochetkov both being healthy who is to say that someone else won't be hurt?

This is not a team that was likely to go all-in again on a rental this year, so I'm fine with giving up on banking cap space for a deadline move. Get a replacement level goalie to avoid Perets playing. If they don't think anyone available is better than Tokarski, then sign Tokarski.

I would operate with the idea that Andersen won’t be back or if he is it’s not until playoffs you just can’t trust this guy one bit I wouldn’t be surprised at all if he had some sort of setback or something along the way. Regardless if he’s back or not they need another goalie end of story

Is there any other team that regularly has both their goaltenders ruthlessly destroyed by opposing players year after year or is that just us?

A lot of the time, it's friendly fire. Didn't Orlov also collide with one of our goalies in similar fashion over the last few years?
maybe? I don't remember. But we've definitely had at least a few that were other team's players. Some maybe partly on our goalies being over-aggressive in their positioning (Mrazek, Koochie), but I definitely seem to remember at least 3 that weren't friendly fire.

That said, I doubt it's any more than other teams; or if it is it's not of any significance and is random or because of how our goalies play.

I know this may sound a bit crazy but send Anderson and a 2025 3rd and a 2026 2nd to the Ducks for Gibson. With the Ducks retaining 2 million insalary

Logic. Duck are rumored to looking at trading Gibson by taking Anderson in trade they free up an additional 1 million this year but Anderson’s salary comes off the books next season this gives the Ducks basically a 2nd and a third for a player that the ducks want to trade anyway.

This would give the Canes a number one goalie, with proven playoff experience without giving up a player they neef
