Baseballs funny in that the Dodgers may very well get swept in the NLDS despite being the reigning champs and having oodles of talent.
It's crazy to get mad at a team for spending money and trying to win. Literally any team could have signed a bunch of the players that the Dodgers have signed this year, last year, and years leading up. They chose not to.
Sure, Ohtani, Yamamoto, Saski chose other teams and wanted to go to LA. Big f***ing deal. That happens. Someone else could have signed Scott, Yates, Teo, Conforto, Snell, etc.
There's like 5-6 teams that haven't signed a single player this off-season and you have guys like Bregman, Alonso, Flaherty, Scherzer are still on the board. Those dudes will make your team better. Go sign them. Go trade the Marlins some junk and get a bunch of good players that they don't want to pay soon.
According to Forbes the Yankees are worth $7.55 billion dollars.![]()
Sources: Dodgers agree to $13M deal with Yates
The Dodgers agreed to a $13 million deal with reliever Kirby Yates, sources told ESPN, pushing their total offseason spending to more than $450 million.www.espn.com
Interesting note at the end of the article:
Los Angeles' luxury-tax payroll this year is around $390 million, and with the penalties for exceeding the $241 million threshold, their total payroll is likely to be in excess of $500 million. Owners of other teams have been outspoken about Los Angeles' spending, with the New York Yankees' Hal Steinbrenner on Tuesday telling YES Network that "it's difficult for most of us owners to be able to do the kinds of things they're doing."
It's just all the owners who are mad because the Dodgers make them look like cheap assholes*It's crazy to get mad at a team for spending money and trying to win.
