Davidson sure didn't think he was impossible to replace and I imagine you and Hughes won't think so either by the time he's an RFA, if not sooner
And how are the Hawks doing? They’re going to teaching for a long time to find a big centre to play behind Bedard.

The Hawks are in a rebuild too, so they're doing bad, as they should be, just like Montreal, but they clearly realized quite some time ago that Dach is too fragile to be a reliable and dependable answer. Kid couldn't even make through a couple games at the World juniors without getting catastrophically hurt, so he's been showing the world what he is since day one

Dach is not one of the pieces they'll be moving on from.
They'll move from him when his contract is about to be up. We've seen his performances regress with his multiple strings of injuries, hence his value being down to a throw-in in another trade.

He was fine in year one. He looked great in 2023 camp and right up to the injury in game 2. My only concern is his ability to win faceoffs - which may be a result of the wrist injury from Chicago. He's .5ppg to start the year after missing basically all of last year. I'm not throwing the baby out with the bathwater.

Kinda funny considering two years ago many Habs fans labelled Dach untouchable in proposals for Dubois which as a Jets fan, I am glad because I had no interest in Dach whatsoever. Happy with the deal they got from the Kings.

Not that Dubois has been great, but regardless. Funny with how strongly some posters coveted him.

I would have pulled that trigger like a madman, so not all fans. ;-)

I am also very glad we never went for Dubois

I do believe though that Dach is very underrated right now. You don't comeback from missing almost two full seasons at that part of his development without initial struggles. I am not sure he will reach out near his potential to match his draft ranking but he has NHL talent. I would certainly not look to trade him.

It's insane that any fans are mad about the start, Montreal is in a rebuild, the goal should have been to be 0-10-0. They've only missed the playoffs for 3 years now and a proper rebuild should see them out for 5 at least. they still need a few more high end picks, and then need them to actually work out, better than Newhook and Dach so far at least

That's not how you rebuild. That's actually the worst way to go when entering year 3 of a rebuild. You can't throw out a disgrace of a team on the ice and then expect the kids you drafted high to grow through that pain. That's a loser mentality and wouldn't work in a real life (rebuild) situation.

I'm not sure what this has to do with PLD. Dach wasn't available for PLD and for good reasons.

It was Dach OR PLD and Montreal chose Dach.

PLD travelled to Montreal for the draft expecting to be traded there but MTL decided to make a deal with Chicago instead.

Rebuilding is about losing, the more the better, period. The NHL is structured to reward the biggest losers the most, we all know this, it's not rocket surgery. The kids will be fine, no team has ever gone 0-82. A loser's mentality is not seeing a rebuild through all the way to the end due to impatience, like Yzerman has done by buying up too many useless UFA's to "fast track". Sacrificing future glory for present day mediocrity is what what makes losers

Tell me more about this plus minus stat you value so much.
Tell me more about how you know what I value and how much, better than me.... Plus minus is very pertinent at the extremes and when comparing players within the same system/team, but ya, we all know its a very flawed stat especially when comparing players on different teams. When you have the worst stat of whatever stat it may be, in the ENTIRE LEAGUE, it means something, obviously. When you have a big fat, league worst minus, on a team that also has several plus players, it is highly indicative that you suck defensively, that's what plus minus is for and why it's tracked as a primary stat. Of the 3 stats I mentioned, that's the least important one, sure, but does that somehow make you think he's the exact opposite of what that stat indicates? Still has one goal and is still one strong fart away from the IR. Ya, awesome player...

You mentioned 2 stats and a feeling he will get injured again. One of your stats is garbage and the other is he has 1 goal. What an excellent analysis there. xD

Is this the same Kirby Dach who was untouchable in a PLD trade becaue he was destined for the HHOF?
No that was because pld was and is trash and we only wanted him for free, which also would have been a mistake

Exactly (to the bolded). The guy is a walking bandaid

Yes, I was pushing for Dach in a PLD trade. I still think it would have worked out well for both sides (thus my comment in this thread - I found it ironic that a Habs poster wants to move him)

No, I'm not that Laine guy

So take your word (whatever it is) and apply it to someone else

Anyway, I hope you continue to enjoy your perpetual rebuild. Maybe someday it will get better for Habs fans
Enjoy your early season winning streak and embarrassing playoff loss this year as Your vezina winning goalie crumbles, yet again

Hope things stay exactly the same in Winnipeg

Wow, salty lol. Sounds like the "rebuild" is already starting to grind you down

Don't worry, we are enjoying our first place team. And playoffs sure will be exciting again. Hopefully the whole team plays better this time. Maybe sometime in the next decade or so, you'll get to experience the thrill of playoff hockey again, too!

i don't get this inferiority complex you're still riding after landing a haul for PLD. like bro, we know you won that trade. most of us didn't want him unless we were getting him for scraps

i do remember not so long ago was very exciting. did you also realize the series was over when your captain got himself suspended at the end of game 1?

I think the habs actually have the edge in playoff games won since. And series.

NBD though, enjoy your team. .
