Should be a competitive game even if the Fronts are down a few players - so will the Knights.

Cowan - Out with lingering Injury
Barkey - Most likely wont play (recovering from illness)
Halttunen - Suspension (checking from behind - 4 games)
Boulton - Suspension (Slashing - # of games still being reviewed)

Halttunen had 4pts in 6 games with San Jose Barracuda and is sent back to London
Ludwinski has 1 pt in 13 games with Rockford IceHogs and is still in AHL

What am I missing?
Haltunnen's contract slides so SJ is only paying him the signing bonus, but since Ludwinski is a year his contract can't slide so they'd be paying him the full AHL salary regardless of where he is (I believe), so Chicago likely thinks they're better off with with more hands-on development.

I really don’t like that Bolton penalty. How that played out was a disgrace. I’d be in favour of a VERY lengthy suspension. “I’m embarrassed so I am going to hack your arm off.” I’m cool with aggressive penalties but that was uncalled for.

I don’t think they pay the AHL salary if they are in the OHL. They do get the bonus but I think the salary is just eliminated. I think they need to be playing Pro. The contract, as you said, does not slide so it does eat up a contract year.

I’m not 100% on that but that is my understanding.

Agreed re: Boulton - there was nothing but intent to injure and although I can't stand Parekh at all, mostly because of the spitting incident that got brushed aside so he couldmplay in the top prospects game, he's incredibly lucky that the stick broke. If that stick stayed in one piece he's likely dealing with broken ribs.

I tried to look it up and I think you may be right (RIP CapFriendly), there was a 9 year old thread that mentioned there was some kind of amount they could be paid but it was capped around 10.5k.

I do however think they get any bonuses regardless since they're paid out on July 1. Then the salary gets pushed back until he's actually using up the contract years? But that opens up a whole other batch of questions because if say Philly kept Luchanko up for 11+ games to use a contract year, then send him down, where does that salary go? I can't imagine the PA would allow teams to get out of paying salary like that.

James Guo overhand slashed a player in the head In the playoffs last year in one of the most vicious plays this league has ever seen and just received a slap on the wrist. If that's any indication, Boulton shouldn't be suspended at all.

They 100% get their signing nonus. You could see that on capfriendly when it was operational. You see the year they signed getting their bonus with the slide years showing without the bonus.

May not be pretty tomorrow night.
Sounds like the bug that had Lalonde out is going through the room this week.
I really hope Lalonde can play. If it’s vaccari we are toast London always has our number and I wouldn’t want to start Betts vs London in case we get lit up and it breaks his spirit.

Boulton is a repeat offender and only in the league to be a tough guy and has hurt people before. Big brother was the same way. He absolutely should get a longer suspension.

That’s not to say James guo shouldn’t have had a bigger suspension but it’s pretty damn clear Boulton isn’t in there to score goals or even kill penalties. His role is an enforcer. He needs to do it clean and not take out players. I hate parekh about as much as the next fan but reality is just because I don’t like the kid doesn’t mean he should get slashed in the wrist like that.

Just 8 games for that malicious slash is BS.
Cardwell pushed a SSM player behind the shoulder, player lost balance and fell in a collision with teammate before sliding ~10 feet to the boards resulting in a broken leg …14 game suspension.
A vicious action by a player unable to control his emotion vs a push from beside/behind that happens almost every game generally assessed a 2 min minor.

I’m not sure about the other play since I did not see it but the Boulton play was brutal. AND, it is not that the actual slash itself was worth more than the 8 games, it was the circumstance surrounding it and what led to it. To me, that was just petty. That suspension should be followed with, “If you do ANYTHING like that again, you are gone from the league.”

Imagine if Parekh saw him coming and started skating away? We’d likely have seen another Kugel chance down!

Yeah he should take up ufc or boxing when he’s done with hockey.

Then of course there’s always fans trying to downplay what he did “oh it was bad but wasn’t as bad as player x and he only got….”

Not sure why the league doesn’t ever try and get rid of the Daniel walker, Ryder and sawyer Boulton types of guys they limit fighting and are all about protecting the players but then give miniscule suspensions for clear intent to injure. Would it not make sense to slap a 30 gamer on to a player doing that and then you won’t see it happen again? If all they have to miss is 4-8 games and they only play 3 minutes a game how much are they really missed?
