Kings vs. Kings will feature 5-on-5 hockey, fast-paced 4-on-4 and edge-of-your-seat 3-on-3 skating. In addition, both teams will test their skills on special teams during the allotted time. During 5-on-5, 4-on-4 and 3-on-3 skates, all penalties will be decided by penalty shot! If the contest is tied, the winner will be determined by a shootout.

One hour forty-five minutes.

Anybody else feeling a little... cheated?

Was kinda fun, I guess. Sloppy and lazy and the only people more confused about what the format was than the players were the officials.

Just reading up on the format, it came across as a glorified scrimmage to me.

I can relate if you paid for the seats and had to drive a way to watch. The date of the game was not timed well because the Kings have two split squad exhibition games tomorrow, so they didn't want to over do it today the third day of camp. Once the format was announced, I knew what we were in for. For me, it wasn't a biggie since the seats were a perk, part of my ONT season seats and I live 15 minutes away. For others, yeah, I bet there was some frustration.

I thought the format was fine. Lots of players not in the lineup. Closer to Reign vs. Reign. It was still great to
see some hockey. Quick observations. Setoguchi looked good at times. Can still skate, good hands, and clever. Ladue paired with McNabb looked good. LaDue looked better as it went to 4-4 and then 3-3. Trotman struggled quite a bit. Bad passes, bad decisions, skated right into trouble a few times, soft coverage. Lintn played well, handles puck well. Cernak played well. For both him and Linti you can tell there is a speed adjustment to make. Gravel played good but I've seen him play better. He played left side even though his partner was left handed also. A clue possibly that he is trying out for the left side. Forbort played very well. Looked comfortable and handled puck well, good crisp passes. Skated well also. Nice shot on Mersch tip. Toffoli looked good but got tired easily. Kempe was flying. He had a sick shootout goal. Dowd was not noticeable. Amadio had some good moments, but not much. Leslie was playing off sides d doing well until he got hurt. Lost an edge with no one near him while skating backwards and then circling back for a loop to get going forward, and slid feet first on his stomach into the half wall on the left side of rink. I cringed. It had broken ankle written all over it.

Thanks for sharing your observations, Efhank. Much appreciated.
