We held ARI pick in the Kubalik trade with CHI. Good return in my opinion. Moved up 10-15 spots from the 5th rounder and got some value for a player that was not in the teams future plans. Still kept our own 5th rounder. Confirms the rebuild is still on.

I was wrong, I didn't think he had any value. His actual value was trading up about 15 spots in the later stages of the draft. I'll take it.

He wasn't even bad for us.

Won most of his face-offs, and was good defensively.

Ended up playing 79 career games for us and racked up 12 points for us. Exactly what you want from a 4th liner.

personally i consider toffoli below average, he's slow but has good hands to create space to make up for it

thompson is the definition of average outside of a decent faceoff clip

Yeah, I agree. He did his job. Stood up for teammates every now and then. He's a good guy to have if you're a contender or if you want him to mentor the younger guys on a rebuilding team. Wish they could've gotten a 5th without giving up an extra pick though.

He'll be 35, I concur it's not going to be easy for him to land a job. I think we have to look at it this way. Kubalik wasn't coming over, and Thompson wasn't coming back. Neither may play in the league next year. We got a 4th in return. I'll take it.
