Thought I'd drop by and let you guys know that Matt Luff has a hat-trick and an assist in the Hamilton Bulldogs season opener tonight. 2nd period hasn't finished yet.

Other than going undrafted, Luff's path has been kind of similar to that of Amadio's. Kind of a blah beginning in the OHL, then around a ppg in their 18 year old years. Both played for coaches known as types that stress 2 way games. If he can take that next step like Amadio did, the Kings might have something here.

Great start to the year for Luff. Hat trick plus an assist. Maybe the Kings have something in this dude :naughty:

Honestly kind of shocked no one took him in the 6th or 7th round of the draft. Who cares if he is 19. Scored a ton the final 2 months of the season, led his team in scoring and is 6'3" 195. Unless he has some serious deficiencies, what's the risk? Glad the Kings got him...have someone to follow in the OHL now. Great start.

The Kings clearly aren't (see: Pearson too), but a lot of teams are turned off/scared by people who re-enter the draft regardless of their projections.

I'm glad our staff isn't, because sometimes a kid just 'gets it' as he turns 17-18-19-20, or grows into his body a bit more, etc. They're developing, not finished products, but sometimes they get treated that way.

I think there's also always the question of 'is it just a hot streak' like down the stretch at the end of last year for this guy but when you're watching it's more about process than product, HOW he's getting his points more than THAT he's getting his points, and by all accounts he was just flat out dominant.

1G 1A tonight, that's 6 pts in 2 games and a +7. Hamilton with 7 goals in back to back games.

He's on a pace for 204 points!

might he have a good chance at cracking the lineup?

i'm seeing his name already on the 23 man roster on capgeek

is it because he just got signed?

what's the deal

I'd say 3 years minimum. Lets see how he does in Jr. this year. If he's bringing it, pull him up to the A for the playoffs. Then a full year there. And that's best case where his play is forcing moves.
