At the moment this is an odd move to me. I think owning the team and putting the "Kings" system on the ice would help in the long run. Also makes it easier to sign move Kings players

It doesn't matter at all. Owning the AHL team is what's important. We were in a position only one other team was in owning the entire system. If it was so important there would have been more teams owning their ECHL teams.
It made sense for the team while they were in Ontario being part of the LA market being owned by the team but now being on the east coast not do much.

Why does this sale seem odd? They're still affiliated with the Kings.

I don't see this as a negative impact at all - it could only be positive change with new local ownership. But likely there will be no change at all with how LA/Ont interacts with Manchester.

I guess losing control. They won't be required to teach and play the same system. Instead they will try to win by adapting. I know that sounds good, but the minor leagues should be about doing what is best for the parent club. Sometimes that means foregoing winning. I just don't see a benefit other than cost savings. What if this group or the next or the next runs this team into the ground? Loses a lot of money and starts making quick fixes.
It is the offseason and I can't complain about last night's defensive zone give away.

Honestly, it's the ECHL, it means very little in the big picture.

It was critical for a player named Jonathan Quick to adapt to the pro game. I think he ended up doing something important for the Kings but I can't recall quite what...

He's a goaltender, they take a bit of a different path. I was replying to the poster talking about how it might be bad because the team may not play like the pro team anymore.

The reality is, very very few players make it from that league.

I believe King was the only skater from the cup teams who spent any amount of time in the ECHL.
