I don't fully understand the Gravel thing either. To say he will be in Manchester next season is kind of like false advertising if he can just up and sign with any other NHL team at any time starting Friday. Certainly he won't stay in Manchester to play in the AHL if his rights were to become the property of another team. Unless - he's contractually obligated to play the whole season in Manchester. But then - becoming a UFA on Friday would be pointless, that is until the following season starts on July 1, 2015 when he would actually be a UFA. This whole thing is weird. Does anyone know for sure how the possible scenarios would play out?

The Manchester contract may simply be if he doesn't get an NHL offer he is committing to play in the AHL with the Monarchs. Like many contracts however, an NHL out clause could void the contract.

He won't actually be a UFA on July 1, 2015. He's actually a free agent tomorrow (so likely in about 5+ hours at this point). IF he signs an NHl deal with someone this off-season, it will be a one year ELC I believe, and once that contract expires on July 1, 2015 he will be an RFA (unless the team that signed him doesn't qualify him).
