For anybody who like me is desperate for hockey, there are 2 Kings playoffs games on NHL Network today
at 12 pm EST (9 am Pacific)
2011 Kings vs Sharks game 3
at 10 pm EST (7 Pacfiic)
2013 Kings vs Blues game 5
also, for anybody that wants to watch the Flyers epic and historical comeback,
at 6pm EST (3 pacific)
2010 Flyers vs Bruins
Although MR set up Gagne very nicely on the GWG, my favorite play by him, esp due to the timing and importance, was in the first period. Flyers down 3-0 with about like 3 minutes left and the puck is behind the Bruins net. Richards throws his entire body at Wideman, who just released the puck. This took Wideman out of the play and as a result, JVR has the room to get that shot off. He was not credited with an assist but had he not sacrificed himself like that, that goal doesn't go in and there is sudden life and wind back in the sails to end the 1st and maybe there is no comeback. He's just that smart and has the ability to read a situation quickly and act on it. He saw where the puck was going, where Wideman was and JV was and instantly recognized that if he can get to Wideman, JVR has the room he needs for a scoring chance. I don't know of many players who have that kind of broad ice vision, I think most would have just followed the play or moved to the front of the net. But he did the smartest play, remove the obstacle.
Very similar to the play he made this year in game 1 vs Sharks by passing the puck and then using his body to take Irwin out of the play, creating a large and open area for Slava to shoot.
Or in game 3 vs blues, throwing the puck on net and then following it into the crease and becoming a pile driver. Didn't get an assist there, but without him, no goal.
Anyway, some Kings action on today
