Any backstory?

I'm always curious why such popular and apparently effective coaches are let go like this.

He's been given 5 seasons in SoCal to repeat his team's 2015 AHL championship in Manchester. In those 5 seasons the Reign have been eliminated twice in the 1st round, didn't make the playoffs in the most recent full season, and were on the outside looking in when the 2019-20 season was halted. His contract was expiring in June. Connect the dots.

It's more likely to do with player development (or lack thereof) than anything else.
